It's shit an idler and the serpentine belt has gone PADOOOOOOING..

That looks a bit mercedes V6/V8ish in there. Can you grab an idler pulley and belt from a local parts place? They're fairly easy to fit if it is the Mercedes lump I think it is.

Think that runs the PAS, ALT, and Water Pump so not something bodgable at the roadside with half a coke can and a piece of string. 

Not really feeling fit for an autoaid collection adventure so collection is officially postponed for the day. 

 

Back on a different train going the other way.

 

It's far from optimal/convenient for everyone involved, but it's a lot better to go wrong before collection than on a smart motorway or summat on the way home.
