Free-ish Lea Francis body panels.

God alone knows why I thought these were a good idea to buy, but there you go. All off a 1950 Lea Francis 14HP.

The wings, boot and roof section are aluminium I think, ditto the door skins but (door) frames are steel.

I could weigh the roof, boot and wings in, but what a waste if that happens. Can someone make use of them? I’m not throwing doors away as the glass must be good for spares.

Even if someone used the roof as part of a VW trike project or hot rod or something it’d be better than weighing it in. It’s probably eight foot long at least and doesn’t quite fit in a SWB Transit with the back doors closed.

Free (providing you don’t weigh them in) from Chester, but would appreciate a donation to a good cause I know of.

I'd guess these gave been stripped off a chassis to make a special but that may be many years ago. Certainly hope they find a home. Here is a bit more history.

LF were one of those companies that thrived just after WWII when there was a shortage of cars and export drive - once things got back to normal their high price and lack of development really finished them off. Pity. The arrival of the Riley RM's, Ford Pilot & Zephy Mk I, Daimler Conquest, Jowett Javelin , Austin Atlantic and Wolseley 6/80 to a greater or lesser extent were their competitors. Their rival Singer got bought out by Rootes but by the mid'50's it was the end of the road for LF and the company was broken up. There was a later revival but it never came to much.

Unbelievably, perhaps, but there was an L-F saloon with a caved-in roof in the garage sixteen inches from my living room wall for donkey's years.....

I have tried to find out where it went ever since Cav first posted these panels up - will stir it up again with the neighbour.   I do know that the roof was repaired before it moved on, though....
