I’m looking forward to Xmas as I’ve got three weeks off and will take on a few bits on the Galaxy that therefore don’t need to be done in a day.

All work is on the drive as the garage is still mainly full of firewood.

Hooli, I always used to keep my bikes in the house before we got a 'posh' house with a BIG garage. When I was young, I used to keep my Z1000 Z1R in the front room and did many, many mods and upgrades over the winter. Lovely and warm, carpet, sound system, just the job. My house was the meeting place for all my friends and everyone used to congregate in the front room. One winter, a mate used to turn up with a plastic container with a carb in (Mikuni 29mm smoothbore if you're interested :)   )  and a tube of solvol, a rag and a toothbrush. He would sit there happily night after night cleaning a different carb until they all looked like they were chromed.

I moved, so the next year I built the Z1000 engine into a Moto Martin frame and had a wonderful time doing so. When it came to get the bike out, a mate held the front door open and I rode it down the stairs! Once it was finished, it lived in the hallway or the kitchen if I had to work on it.

Now, sod all that, it's cold and I'm old and feeble!

Surely a big posh house means one it's easy to ride the bike in & out of? garages are for cars & tools :)

My place will smell of autosol when I get onto the engine work, I polished it all up last time I built it & then took it for a test ride in the rain on salty roads...

I shall be making a concerted effort on getting the Saab 96 running, if I can manage not to drink myself to death or kill anyone over the holiday.

I'm redoing the fuel system on the Stellar over this winter:

Fortunately I have space to work on it under cover, but until this year had to work on everything else out in the elements.

This was the scene on New Year's Eve a few years ago, when both the Kangoo and MINI were off the road due to brake problems. Spent most of the day lying in the dirt, with running water soaking through whatever I was wearing. Oh what fun!

I always promise myself that I'll leave stuff alone unless there's something I absolutely 100% have to deal with, it never quite works out like that though as boredom starts to kick in. If anything gets done it will be Volvo based, the VAG mobiles can FRO until spring.

I suppose I'm lucky these days as the carport is 5M X 3M so I have somewhere that's dry to potter under, in the past I had to work on the drive/street, it's still bloody freezing though!

I've managed to squeeze the black MR2 into the garage last night, it needs the track suspension taken off and put back to standard and generally fettled for sale, including swapping the (good) roof off the red one.

The Corolla needs it's engine and gearbox removed and then scrapped-if anyone has a Corrola and needs any parts let me know!

The red MR2 will be getting it's engine removed and the Corolla engine fitted-this is the winter project.

Oh and an Audi A2 has appeared also needing work, that'll teach me for entering roffles...
