Dye fabric car seats

Probably one for Vulgalour, but is this doable?

 

The seats in the wife's Roomster are grey and blue fabric, which is fine in itself but they are quite faded in places.

 

The seats in my Roomster are black and look better for it.

 

So how hard would it be to dye them black? is this a terrible idea, and will it end in tears?
