Help with rear screen ID

Moved into my new house and found a rear screen in the garage loft. I think it might be VW, but not sure.

 

Trying to work out if I should pedal it on eBbay or not.:

The E1 in the circle means it was approved in Germany but there are a few German motor manufacturers to choose from.

 

Hope it is rare and expensive.

Looks like they fitted an alarm or stereo and added the sticker then. Rather than a clue to age exactly.

Those codes are not model-specific, sadly......Agree it may well be VW - I was thinking Caddy or T4 tail-gate - can't work out the size!

I remember it well, it was down North Hill  from my ole school  The Gilberd School, I'm sure there was a blue MGC parked outside and, having just measured your pic and this pic it's 10omm  by 65 mm so it fit's

it's around 1180 X 720 at it's largest measurement.

More helpfully.... MK4 Escort? The heated element around the edge seems to match, and the gap at the bottom.

I guess Estate and Hatch were different glass but probably the same design.
