He messaged me around 2230 to say he was passing Exeter. He should be home anytime now...

Props to you for using the Farting Preacher as your avatar - and the car, of course.

Haha! Cheers! Yes, he and I have a lot in common. 1) Flatulence; 2) Preaching (just not the god bit). The only thing I don't have is his money!

Good effort re the travel! Now roll your sleeves up and get some wet and dry on those headlights ;)

Good shout, thanks! I'll have to start confidence-building somewhere, so the lights will do!

Nice purchase Sir, I’m guessing you are not back in the people’s republic of Kernow yet....

Thank you! Drum roll please, for we have landed in PDR Kernow at 0020 after a non-stop 6 hour drive from King's Lynn (hence the silence: my apologies).

Sincere thanks to those who have offered assistance today should I have needed it, especially as I'm new to these parts. What a great community you guys have here.

Here's a couple of shots from the journey, including shite food and the final ODO reading at the local garage. 371 miles, with 4 left to go.

Just done the sums: 37.63 MPG.

That's pretty good. I was reading the specs and the auto is over 2 seconds slower to 60 than the manual, how did they manage that?

The gearbox seems to sap the power a lot more than the Merc autos I'm used to!

I've read that these had two auto boxes depending on which market they were sold to - either a GM unit or a ZF (both 4sp).

I'm presuming it's a GM unit in mine. Still, it shifts OK and all the gears are there so can't complain too much!

That's one heck of a trek for a miserable Daewoo. Full approval granted.

Jesus? Is that still the same Speedo / Odo display as my Mk2 Cav? I knew early Daewoos were recycled astras but surely they weren’t still cracking them out with that in 2002?

As aside, a brief reverie about Mk2 dashes has reminded me of the rev counter that went up in 10x100 not 1x1000 my grandad had on his MK2 Opel Ascona SR (uk registered new to him, no idea how/why he an Opel back on a B Reg irc)

Anyway, top chod, as you were.

God alone knows I'm afraid - I'm new to all things Daewoo and indeed Vauxhall! Talking of the early recycled Astra known as the Daewoo Nexia - I've now decided that I would quite like one of the 7 remaining Nexia GLI Autos in existence, absolutely without hesitation if one of those happens to be a saloon (AKA recycled Belmont!).

Yes, I am a huge fan of misery and I'm willing to travel to find it! However, just to confuse matters, the fact this particular piece of Korean misery brought with it significant joy when it made it all the way home. I am now all at sixes and sevens with it - it was never meant to be enjoyed, surely?

I always assumed these were based on a GM platform - but no! It seems they had their own platform.

Interesting stuff, sort of.
