I've got it!Yesterday morning I rented a trailer and borrowed my mates old Transit and set off on my mission to South-West Germany. it's 520 km from where I stay in Czech. Unfortunately the Transit is a 96 Lwb non-turbo with 160k miles on the clock and is obscenely slow even without a trailer. 500km at 100km/h should take 5 hours - it took 8 at fulll chat. Hills are a huge problem for it. Got to the guys place and had a proper look around the car. Rust in weird places but incredibly straight and original. Engine is very sweet indeed. Exhaust is knackered but the 4 branch is perfect. Needs brakes and a lot of work, so I chipped a few hundred quid from the price and set off home at 8 pm. Back in Czech at 3am.Loads of incredibly valuable rare bits on it. Tinted glass with opening quarter lights. Original spotlights and radio. Tons of history, German handbook with all its paperwork from new. Deep-dish Rostyles and a near perfect interior. Flat Halogen lights and totally standard. No signs of wear, just bodywork and consumabe bits. Can't wait to drive it home in a couple of months.

Well done mate.Do you still think you are going to restore it as opposed to break?Would be nice to keep it together, especially with opening quarterlights etc. My old Mk2 had them, shame they werent in demand as much a few years back.

There's no way I'm breaking it. That thought has never crossed my mind. I wouldn't do the best part of 2000 miles to bring it home just to break it.As for the opening quarterlights - no demand? I've only seen one other set of bronze ones and the fetched 300 quid in 92.

Mine werent bronze, but maybe they were worth a bit back then. I sold the whole car for £30..
