So you're at this party in Berkshire. Looking around the host's house, your eyes fall on this: one of 20, awarded to the winners of a competition 30 years ago to produce a road safety leaflet or campaign while at school
The prize? 6 days in Sweden, tours of the Volvo museum in Trollhattan Gothenberg (see post 7 below), and one of these, made in Swedish crystal.

It's not that bad - it's better than a block of clear plastic with a corporate logo printed on it. It looks like a novelty soap.

Believe it or not, I was at a car boot street market in Brussels many years ago with my Dad. I spotted a glass/crystal effect Volvo 850 saloon 1/24-ish scale model for a couple of hundred Belgian Francs (that's how long I'm going back, a couple of hundred francs would've been about £5 then) I tried to borrow some money off my Dad to buy it but he wasn't having any of it and refused me to buy the Volvo. I'm still pretty bitter about it, it would've looked great here at home...

Of course it is - I just couldn't remember the right one (and maybe the owner said the other one too). I was blootered when I posted the thread up.

If I'd won that, I'd treasure it for life, rather like my green Blue Peter badge, which I was awarded in 1989 for being an early adopter of recycling household refuse ^^
