Another possible if the Allegro's back in action.

Always wanted to have a decent look at an Allegro!

Posted

I haven't been near an Allegro since 1991. A school friend had a Brown one. Even then I thought it awesome

I’m a definite attendee

If anyone coming along wants an old phone for £1 or an old printer for £2 (both functional), give me a shout and I'll bring along.  Any money raised back into the forum next month.

I am definite provided the Clio makes it. The clutch is adding an element of risk to the equation. Fitted a push button switch to dash and I now have front windscreen washer pump, so I will have a nice clear view of the hard shoulder!

Just in case anyone is interested, I've taken this Blaupunkt Bristol 27 out and was going to eBay it, but if anyone wants it I'm looking for £25 which is what I paid for it a few years ago.  There's one on eBay for £70 at the mo, so if £25 is too cheap you could always bung a bit into the forum fund. I've got 4x speakers I'll throw in, 2 are Blaupunkt and 2 are Panasonic. The stereo works fine, speakers are scruffy and untested but bought them off Autoshite as working so assume they're good.

1hour and half round the M25 from Harrow. I'm being a bit melodramatic, should be fine.

Would like to propose a world record attempt on most people performing a synchronised Woollard

This pic of 14 is the biggest gathering of foot bumper engine pointery I can find.

If anyone has a big enough car, we could Wollard all the way around it, on the sills.  Unless that's breaking the ways of the Wollard (praise be upon him).

See you tomorrow folks, weather looks ok for Maidstone area, dry at least. I'll be there at 2pm, probably stay for a couple of hours.

See you then! I can't stay too long, hour or two maybe. Saab has woolarding-ready big bumpers.

My car actually got a clean inside so that I wasn’t quite so ashamed. Not that you’d know it seeing as we literally went to a building site in it yesterday and the ground was wet...

Will be setting off from Essex about 1pm. Have to drop Mrs P in central Maidstone then will head over.

Frustratingly, I won’t make this today. The wife is under the weather, the Sierra is also running like a bag of shit and I’ve got a load of work ahead of tomorrow.

Looking forward to the photos y’all.

Well, that was an excellent fun outing!  Sorry I had to dash off, I was just feeling very settled and would have stayed on but too much to do here...

My pics are a bit rubbish but here they are anyway.

I thought I'd taken some more, but I obviously failed to press the "shutter" on my phone's touchscreen - not the first time I've done that and I'm sure it won't be the last.

Main impressions:

I still want an Alfa.  Might have to be a 159 rather than a 156 though.

Parky looks nothing like his profile picture.

You know you're among friends when a beige Skoda turns up and everyone goes "ooh!"

Likewise when the meerkat moment involves a Renault Espace with no wheeltrims.

People being nice about my Saab makes me feel warm and fuzzy.  I was a bit unsure about it, having never owned something so unnecessarily fast, but I'm feeling very warmly disposed towards it now.  I will order the bits I need to sort out its final little niggles this evening.

The Saab was a real beauty.  I'm very, very envious.  A proper high-performance, practical, long-range, distinctive, well-made car.  With a particularly opulent and peacocking cup holder.

Ah yes I forgot to talk about cup holders!

And still being relieved, after nearly 20 years, that my car can get up Detling Hill without boiling over. I used to spend a lot of time there when it was a Little Chef.

I was looking forward to meeting you but it's not possible to do everything.  I hope the wife and the Sierra are feeling better soon.
