Mazda 121 Question

My friends have a 1994 (M reg) Mazda 121, this shape:

And it needs a new radiator. So, does anybody know if there are any other cars with the same radiator, or where I can get one cheap? Second hand is OK. Thanks!

Oh, it's a 1.3 by the way.

It's probably cheaper to get it fixed, I use a company called Aaron Raditors in South London, the rebuilt my Saab 99's radiator for £70, nice job too, but you'll most likely find one locally.

That's not too bad, I haven't checked it myself yet so I'll see how bad it is. My parents live in Bexley so South London isn't too much of a detour if I combine it with a visit.

I used to use Brighton Radiators-then based by the docks in Newhaven. Good service, prompt turnaround, and cheap.Failing that-try BTR in Brighton-they'll not be dear.

How close are these related to the other 121/Ford Festiva/Kia pride?

Most of the engine ancillaries are the same fit, it`s the same single-point injection 1324cc engine, I don`t know about the rad, best thing to do is contact a breakers that have a Pride in and see if they will measure it, and ask them where the hoses go in and out and stuff like that, it could be the same, and they`ll probably want about £30 for it if that. The £70 recore is a good fall back, and at least with that you know it`s years before it`ll go again.

Cheers for that, I'll try scouring some breakers first if there's a possibility that an old shape/Kia Pride one will do. These ones are pretty scarce these days (although they weren't that common to begin with...)Thanks for those Mr Bickle, I'll get some quotes.

That pic is actually of the Autozam Revue ;)

I know a reasonable amount about the 121 having purchased a 1993 Mazda 121 in Hong Kong back in 1998:

I'm pretty sure there are some 121's over here in Holland at the local "Jap" breakers yard too.

There is an online breakers yard search page somewhere (I'll need to look on my other pc) which should be able to source you a radiator.

I was really struggling to find a replacement petrol tank but got one posted form Birmingham in the end!

Our car was complete with AC so possibly had a different radiator arrangement but there is another car that might provide replacement parts that they sold in Ireland called the Kia Avella (AKA Ford Aspire in the USA) which is basically a hatchback variant of the 121.

I'm not sure if the Mazda 323, which also uses the B3 engine from the 121 might have the same radiator?

And once it's done, you can flog it to Father Ted!!

Saw loads of those ugly bug Kia Avellas in Malta as shown on my thread, I thought the Festiva was the Ford variant? I didn't know it could also be had as the 121 - I knew the Pride & the Festiva in the previous format were relations of the 121 though.

You could have a 'smiley' Fiesta (MK4?) as a Mazda 121 as well..

The Festiva is the original (small hatch - not the large 70's saloon) 121 "DA" built by Kia as a Pride but also for Ford badged as a Festiva in the USA etc.The Ford Aspire is a variant of the Mazda 121 "DB" (Bubble shaped Autozam Revue) with a hatchback manufactured by KIA as an Avella. I don't think the hatch version was even produced by Mazda to my knowledge - just like the estate version of the Pride/121DAThere may be some cases in Australia/South East Asia where the Festiva/Aspire names get switched around though?
