Saw a Mk2 Diesel other day looked really tidy. Fortunately the wife dissuaded me from asking the owner about it.

Guess what I'm looking for on eBay...

Now's not the time really given other projects but it never hurts to look. Does it!

Very few left now. Most have either rotted out or just expired though worn out mechanicals. Good luck on finding one, you can spot them from the two bar grille on the diesel. Most populous ones left are the last of the line Verona, which mine is.

There used to be a category for car show judging in a one-make car club I used to belong to, called 'Pride of ownership'. Amongst all the so-called concours restorations this was great for us who were now able to polish the bubbling rust and still have a chance of winning something for the effort - when most of these cars' contemporaries had already been bridged.

Yes, we used to do that at West Lancs MG Club too.  I never won, lol....

Gotta be honest I find showing cars in shows a bit of a faff, I did it once with a retro car club at Santa Pod and it was a ballache.  Turned up on the Saturday evening, set up camp, then had to get up at the crack of dawn on Sunday to drive them over to the show area and spend about an hour parking them in the order that the club organiser desires, walked back to get breakfast, spent the day walking round the show as usual then had to queue to get it out again so I could pack my camping gear up and go home.

Never bothered again, I prefer having a stroll round the campsite with a few beers, stopping to chat with the occasional owner of cars that interest me - the whole club scene is a bit too clicky and obsessive for me.  Probably because i'm a bit of a miserable wanker.
