quick one on winter tyres

is there much of a difference between car and van tyres ? I've bought a honda crv for winter duties and am looking at winter tyres - these ones on gummers are the right size but off a transit

I presume they have a stronger sidewall so would be stiffer - any other differences I need to worry about ?

cheers,

I hadn't thought about noise, it's certainly another factor to consider. One of the lads at work suggested that van tyres may have a harder life being bumped up and down kerbs all day long - maybe I'll keep looking.

cheers all :)

I have 95Vs on my Avensis, when they should be 91H. They’re just a tougher sidewall, which is no real bad thing. Probably gives a slightly firmer ride but I’ve had them for 3 years now and never noticed.

I recently put van tyres on our Grand Vitara, Continentals, and they are ace!, much quieter and a much better steer. Useful improvement in mpg too.

Indicative of harder compound, less rolling resistance.
