I'm staying with my brother in Spain for 10 days.Last night we drove over to villa he looks after to do some maintenance on the swimming pool.We also looked at what was under a large car cover on the drive.post-19075-0-96539300-1504585050_thumb.jpg

Earlier I did some faultfinding on my brother's 1996 Laguna 1.8.One of the most relaxing cars I've ever driven. One of the two coils had given up,so that's on order. The picture doesn't really give a true impression of the awful paintwork where lots of previous small repairs have lifted and blistered. He has owned the car for 15 years.

I spent yesterday changing the timing belt and water pump on this,a 2000 Berlingo Multispace with DW8 engine. It also has a full length folding sunroof, and two doors on the right side with only one on the left.

Today while out and about I saw these:-

Sierra 2 door? Never offered in facelift form in right hand drive?

Posted

Yes they did them on the continent well into the facelift. The XR4i was also a 5 door 2.0 in the U.K., this is the 3 door variant of it.

Whoa, can you find out if that DKW is a two stroke or diesel version? And if it's the two-stroke, can you bring it home with you? Would seriously like one of those if it has the proper engine

I know it looks like a DKW from the back but it's what the DKW van was developed into, the Mercedes Benz MB100 made in Spain.

Hnng! That early Fiesta Courier is making me all warm inside.

Just enlarged the photo and saw the Mercedes badge. Oh well. If you spot any two stroke versions that look like they need a new home you know what to do. Actually, it must be pretty straightforward to reverse engineer them with the proper engine? I can't imagine there was a lot of development involved in chucking the Mercedes lump in there. On reflection then, DKW-badged early one with diesel engine will be perfectly acceptable
