chaseracer Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 The 205 - which I can usually leave for weeks on end, only for it to fire up first turn of the key - has decided to use a different kind of Gallic shrug and now won't start at all: key - dash lights - CLIC - nowt. Nothing obviously loose, fuses/relays checked and seem OK. M'aidez, les gars!! Junkman 1
Junkman Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 This would have never happened with a German car... Have you tried jump leads?Maybe your battery has puked itself.
hairnet Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 borku le merde a electricite sounds like battery is uber flat halfords for you beardy
Pillock Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Aye, a borked battery can still have enough power for dash lights but not work the starter.Do they dim when you try to start?
hairnet Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 no thats just him behind the wheel Junkman, Mally, Cavcraft and 1 other 4
chaseracer Posted August 14, 2017 Author Posted August 14, 2017 I did wonder. Thanks all - I'll try it with the Dyane's nearly new battery tomorrow. Mark?
KruJoe Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Batteries of today do fail with much less warning than back in the good* old days. If your batt's still good, I suspect the battery leads, especially corrosion under the black one bolted to the car's body. Check the fat red one ont' starter too.
chaseracer Posted August 15, 2017 Author Posted August 15, 2017 Cheers, Joe - all that seems OK, but no fettling opportunity today because work. I'll have another gander tomorrow. It's our wedding anniversary, but I'm sure Domestic Management won't* mind...
Cavcraft Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Earth wire. Unless it's a 3 door, non-sunroof shell model with a good rear beam, in which case it's absolutely knackered and only worth £30. chaseracer 1
chaseracer Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 So today, the wonder that is FPB7 came over and fixed the 205 using baking soda and a machine that stuffs electricity into reluctant batteries. Starts now. Happy days. strangeangel, Heidel_Kakao and Junkman 3
