purplebargeken Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Ok, for sale is....... The Transit that I planned to convert into a camper. I may well be looking at another option and I cannot have two. It is a Pinto powered Twin Cam, 5 speed, long wheelbase, single rear axle, semi hi-top Minibus. Can't recall if originally a 15 or 17 seater. Some seats are still in the 'bus, some fitted, some not. These could likely be sold on the Bay of Flea. Engine and 'box are sound, low mileage engine. Petrol so LEZ exempt...... whoohoo. Cab bit is really tidy, no rips or damage to the seats, door cards, headlining or dash. Keep fit windows for happiness. PAS for steering easiness. The passenger space is clean and tidy, the interior is a mix of original plastic sheet and carpet (grey cord). The flooring looks like the original blue hard wearing vinyl material. No rips or cuts, comes up nicely when cleaned. Sliding side door, no issues. Step is solid. Twin opening doors at the rear, bit crusty at the bottom but should repair. All of the locks do their job. The worst bit of the bus belongs to the wheel arches. They will need to be repaired. Tons of panels on ebay at not much money. No tax or MOT. Located in a barn near to Chelmsford in Essex. Price:£285, I can't go any lower as need to fund next thing. Sorry Teh photos bitz: Before cleaning: Lights work fine! 0ldCh0d, privatewire, danthecapriman and 3 others 6
0ldCh0d Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 If you were not as far away....I would have snapped that up. Smileys are creeping up in value & I cannot remember the last time I seen an Early(ish) S Reg one. Cheap at £285. purplebargeken 1
purplebargeken Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Cheers. It is a nice thing inside. Price just reflects AS and need for wheel arches I'd likely get more on gumtree but can I be arsed? Unlikely. There may be other things it needs but I can't remember
gadgetgricey Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Could be interested as always fancied trying to create a camper van.Any shots of the rear arches and ideas on how much work to get sorted. Also do you think it would drive back to pre booked MOT in Birmingham, or would be best to make transport arrangements, CheersDave
purplebargeken Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 No shots of the arches but they will need doing before a ticket is achieved, however, I see no issue with it driving to Birmingham as it drove from Norfolk to the barn quite happily.
purplebargeken Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Well this one needs to go unfortunately. £5 for a roffle ticket?
Tamworthbay Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Are the arches structural? If not then gaffer tape/ p40 will do for the mot. purplebargeken 1
purplebargeken Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 I think that temporary repair has been utilised before.
Arthur Foxhake Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I would be very interested in that.I've just got back from Essex, would have been to see it today if I spotted it earlier. Can get to you next weekend.
purplebargeken Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 Can do Sunday if convenient as I have a mate coming down from Coventry on the Saturday and will be pretty much full on for the whole day.
wuvvum Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I'll just second what wor Kenneth has said ('cos I've driven it and he hasn't) and say that I'd trust the old crate to drive pretty much anywhere. purplebargeken 1
stripped fred Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 I don't need it but I still want it. Nice project for someone with more time than I have! purplebargeken 1
purplebargeken Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 I don't need it but I still want it. Thus is born the new slogan for Autoshite eddyramrod, stripped fred, Cleon-Fonte and 2 others 5
Cavcraft Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Looks pretty damned straight to me, bloody good price that. I'm out because my insurance won't let me drive mini-buses and also it's entirely the wrong sort of fuel. purplebargeken 1
Arthur Foxhake Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Van viewed. Deposit left. Will be winging its way back to Chesham to meet its smaller brother soon. Kinda hope I don't win Wuvvums roffle now, bit overstocked again. stephen01, Jim Bell, eddyramrod and 5 others 8
wuvvum Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Stick the MGF in the back of the Transit. It'll probably fit if you put it in diagonally. Arthur Foxhake, The Moog, stephen01 and 1 other 4
purplebargeken Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 Wuv, is it fitted with a tow bar? The Transit obv,not the MGF. There is a step but can't recall if tow bar.
wuvvum Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Aye, it's towbarred. Pretty sure the electrics work(ed) too. Arthur Foxhake 1
Arthur Foxhake Posted July 20, 2017 Posted July 20, 2017 Good news, it should look perfect towing my 1990 caravan along. eddyramrod 1
purplebargeken Posted July 21, 2017 Author Posted July 21, 2017 A million fake pikey points now awarded to you. Arthur Foxhake 1
