Do people resent spending any money on their cars?

The Rover 75 lickers make me laff about the V6's.  OOOhhh, timing belts- they MUST be done at 90k or 6 years or the planets will misalign and the sky will fall in. Scenario: Someone gets bequeathed a minty 75 Connie SE with low miles, that has done 2000 miles in the last 10 years. That someone asks advice on what this car is worth- remember its showroom fresh, nice colour,. £800 quid is the general answer, but ooohh, it's overdue a belt change, that costs about £600 for someone who knows what their doing, and it'll need an MOT and probably tyres cos it's been sitting probably another 3-400 quids worth.

So- I come and get your perfect 75 AND you give me 200 quid?

OR, spend £800 quid to get £900?

Or give it to WBAC for £150

Running shite for any other reason apart from you like it, or are skint makes no sense. Spending £800 on an £800 car makes no sense, unless you are a bit odd- like most everyone in here :) Certain things need sorted ASAP, certain things need sorted because you want to, certain things can be ignored until you are flush or bored or get the Ebay itch.

If it's got no test on it it's worth about £120. Unless it would obviously fly through, the belt thing would be a worry though.

The timing belt(s) change on a KV6 are pretty much down to Internet scare stories. Can be done at home without all the wizardry and special tools provided you are reasonably competant.

I feel like scum for using tyres down to 2mm before changing them now.

You're literally worse than Fred West.
