My renewal from elephant came through for the capri... 350 odd quid same as last year, but as I've managed to acquire 7 points on my licence, I phoned up to tell them and they came back and told me it would now be... 750 quid!!:shock: I was expecting a rise because of the points but not more than double, so I moaned to the canadian bloke and he then "had a word with his manager" and said they could knock 30 quid off since it was such a big rise.Told him I'd just leave it for now and went online and filled out a quote on Admiral's website... who by the way are the SAME company as elephanttheir quote - 360 quid. Phoned elephant back and gave them the quote reference, they looked it up and told me it was their policy to beat admiral's quotes... even though its the SAME company!New renewal price - 330 quid. Unbelievable! what a bunch of chancing c***s.

never ever ever "renew" a policy. It's how they like to make their money. Got a renewal through for the 2cv last year, they wanted £230. Got a quote as a "new" customer: £99 fully comp no excess.

So I gave them the Posted Image and went else where...Its all part of the con, a bit like the comparison sites that come back saying... "scummy knock off fred insurance" is going to insure your car for 50p a year fully comp and throw in a new house, some weekend tickets to the world cup final and they will wash and wax your car every day using their trained topless bitches, only to find when you go to that company the hidden costs top it back up to ten zillion quid, you can forget the world cup, and the bitches were a figment of your imagination.

My trade policy doubled after a little incident last year (which is still being fought), shopped around, found it for less than it cost last year, rang the brokers back and said "I think you're taking the piss somewhat" and it mysteriously dropped by a grand...

I have been using the same broker for over 20 years now. The premium always compares favourably with the best I can find on various online quote sites and it never increases unreasonably from year to year. Best of all, they don't have a call centre.

Not being an arse, but did you ring up the insurance company when you acquired the points initially? Did they add anything to your policy then or say it didnt matter/wait until renewal?..If you didnt contact them, did they say anything about this when you rang them up to get the new quote

Yeah I rang them and told them.. they said it didnt make a difference until renewal but they would keep a note of it

Did they not ask who you are with at the moment? Or did you use a comparison site?

We are getting this at the moment, but when I gave them the new company's quote, they said they couldn't match it!!

Just had similar with Churchill. Renewal £166. On line quote £140. Rang them and got it reduced to £140 after negotiations. :D:D
