307 SW collected, need help with fuel leak

I was at my dad's today so had a other quick look at the filler cap. Below the filler cap it looks like there is a small breather hole. This and the bottom of the filler are swimming in diesel.

I was googling this and it appears the fuel tank has some sort of one way valve breather system with a handy valve that can fail.

Has anyone heard or had any experience of this?

Not touched the 307 as I've been working away from home. Today I though I would try and figure out what is going on with this fuel leak from the filler. First problem was jacking it up, the sills are all covered in a thick layer of underseal so I couldn't see the factory jacking points. A quick prod of this layer revealed the rear of the sill to made of a thin layer of wob and lashing of underseal. Great start

It looks like the rear bearing has been replaced/adjusted recently as the cap was loose and there was fresh grease on it. I had a quick look at the abs sensor, the air gap looks a bit big to me, I'll check further when ny copy of Peugeot planet arrives.

Probably no use to you, but my fully working 307 hdi 90 hatch sans test is available to anybody for 50 bills

If you need reference pics I'm happy to take a few; I'd assume it's different on the hatchback, but the offers there if useful

I'm in Wicklow Ireland; 50 euros drives a working diesel car away with the only known faults the need of new tyres (the ones on it hold air, but on the limit of thread, 16" Pegasus alloys)

That's not wob on the jacking point it's Shutz. For some reason Peugeot cake it on like its custard. I'd just whack some underseal over it.

Unless there's a problem with the abs I'd leave it alone.

I'd just strip the breather system out and clean it or swap with one from the breakers.

The white stuff looks like a layer of body filler. Underneath there is a layer of body coloured rubber coating the sill is crunchy under this. Its feels like I could easily shove my finger through it.

I'm looking at the abs sensor as the abs light is on.

This pic shows what I thought was a breather hole turns out it was a droplet of water siting under a pool of diesel. You see in the other pic how the filler isn't sitting right in the seal like someone has been here before me

I gave the fuel pipe work a look over, you can see this big jubilee clip that wasn't there when it left the factory. A lot of the pipework looks damp as well. I think the big lump with the writing on in the one way valve. It doesn't look like you can remove it easily. The HBOL of lies says you have to remove the exhaust and both rear springs to get the tank out :(

My mojo was waning so I chucked some Hammerite on the grot and left it for the day.
