Montego Police Car 1992 "does the job really but a crock of shit otherwise"

That quote is around the 2.30 mark, but there's shite galore on this short videolux:

Imagine what the Faily Mail would say if a couple of offsirs filmed themselves using the lights & siren for no reason before one of them called their car a crock of shit today.

"Crock of shit" Cheeky bastard

Anyway...you're in a Hyundai I30 now (or maybe your son is). Wasn't so bad was it?

"The Cosworth's in" - I remember these fuckers tear-arsing around in that.

Now someone needs to make a comparison video and see if the roads are as empty.

I rember MOD plod having buttery biscuit base turbo diesels, a local cab firm managed to get a batch brand new with Brummie issue plates on to identical spec

I like the way the Cossie plate confirms it is fitted with the new-style sirens.

Oooosssshhh that saph cosworth must've struck fear into the hearts of whoever it got behind

Shame it was only on road until 1999 though, i wonder if its still around sonewhere

The taxis around fife were all either Peugeot 505 estates or Montegos up until 2000. They had hundreds of the things. Never wanted a montego myself.. I was always a Sierra or cavalier man!

Great little video! I lived in Tamworth growing up in the 90's and as a family we visted Lichfield a fair few times on a weekend etc. Can remenber seeing a few Police Maestro Vans but so much Montegos.

There was a Austin / Rover garage in Tamworth and Lichfield so that Montego may have come via one of those garages as my grandad had a F reg Maestro 1.6L with a similar ending reg number from the Tamworth garage.

The Cavalier SRI MK2 and the Peugeot 405 SRI a minute or so in was for me a tough call on my then 9 year old self as to which was better. :-)

We would have had are much missed 1988 E reg Fiat Strada Team back in 1992. I wish we had it now as they were thin on the ground then.

Oh the last part of the video is Brownhills high street which is only about 10 minutes down the road from me now.

I remember my uncle buying my aunt a Strada Abarth back in the day.

west midlands plod used to have "specials" built by leyland- buttery biscuit base montegos with 2.0 injection

...and my friends dad who worked for arg suggested there may* have been some 1.3 base 2 litre maestros made

they did have some 2.8i buttery sierras but they neglected to uprate the brakes enough so may* have come to a sticky end- they didnt stay long

rover also made mod specials that were LX spec but with no sunroof- i was told the "no sunroof" rule was to make it harder to aim at the officers with one less window!
