And tonight's stakeout Transit?

Oh and the Daimler in the night shots is ours too...

That early phase 1 is a little beaut!, Wondered if that was also one of yours tonight.Yeah dad's was a facelift model, Had the plastic grill but didn't have the front spoiler, with grey vinyl front seat, Remember burning my legs when i was wearing shorts in the summer on them, Also later in life it had no bumper caps and also very holey rear doors!.

The spoiler is actually a custom minibus thing, but was an option on vans. Sounds like your dad's was a standard model, given it had plastic seats too.

When I saw that van - I thought of you!I saw a green Chrysler Alpine last week, looked fairly rough - did you see it at any time? Also any gen on the silver/blue Avenger that appeared last week, in the yuppie's office car park. The George Gently on Sunday had the junior detective selling his MGB for £100, on the grounds that it was an old car, however A) The MGB came out in 1962.B) The B plate would indicate a 1964 registration.C) The show is set in 1964!So the car would be new or near as fugging dammit, and given a new price of about £900 he could ask approx £800 for his MGB and still have to fight the prospects off, even 'upp north'. Wankers! (shame as I like the show).Mild Rant now over  .

I Know who the Chrysler belongs to, she is to Rootes what I am to Ford! I don't have anything to do with George Gently, but believe me I am sure the production company would have been advised about 1960s used car prices, though it could be they didn't ask. I have researched prices before, and I am always ready to do some more research, cos I know all too well there are people out there who know what they are talking about with period cars.

Been looking round on the internet and really looking forward to next week now, the blagging is good (have footage but not too sure about posting it) and there is supposed to be a cliff hanger in the story, if you have been following it.

Ah yes, a(nother) cliffhanger... how unsurprising!

Posted

The "trailer" at the end of last night's episode showed a facelift Mk2 Granada 2.8 Injection (drool!) on a V-plate (doh!), and an E28 5-series, which may or may not have actually been launched depending on which months in 1982 this series is set.I only watched it last night as there was bugger-all else on...

I am hoping there will a third series, rumours yo yo between it already being written to the BBC waiting for the viewing figures next week (very likely). My clip in only seconds, but I wasn't supposed to have it....

Strange as there was only 2 series of LOM, maybe they are trying to drag it on a bit as they isn't anywhere to go after this A2A finishes. Can't see them doing a 90's version called Jump They Say or something else unheard of from Bowie the 90's.

Posted

There wasn't a 3rd series of LOM because John Simm didn't want to do it, it was planned. If they commission the 3rd series of A2A I hope it stays in the 80s, I suspect finance will dictate it will, though there was rumours of it going into the 90s. The cars have been mothballed, with no plans to sell, so that leads me to think it will be in the 80s again.

Heard Philip Glenister being interviewed on 5Live yesterday. He said that it hadn't been decided yet about a third series, although reading between the lines made it sound like there would be.I certainly hope so!

Philip Glenister wants to do it, but he can't make them commission it. He's up for a third series, and no more.

Trouble is they are running out of storylines as it is. Once they've done all the cliches (yuppies, feminists, falklands vets, students, Sweeney-esque cockney villains etc) the writers have to actually put some effort into it.I couldn't really stand another 8 hours of Keeley Hawes moaning about her daughter either. This series has really exposed her range of acting skills, which while perfectly acceptable , are not exactly comparable to Judi Dench or (to pick a contemporary) Samantha Morton. Looks great in tight jeans though :P .P.S. Doing one in the 1990s would be getting a tad pointless, as the era is too similar to now in terms of social attitudes, political correctness etc. I suppose you could have Gene Hunt beating up some Poll Tax rioters or having a woman boss, but it have to include him getting hung out to dry by the Police Complaints Authority or giving evidence in a sexual harrassment employment tribunal bought by 'Shazz' (although she could be his boss by then), etc. Plus police scandals are too 'recent' to be made a joke of - i.e. Stephen Lawrence.

Still the vans are good, never been a fan of the Audi though

I noticed the Tranny was on a Y plate on Monday, It didn't look right, Wasn't the facelift shape out on a Y?

Posted

No, the facelift came out in 83/84, with the A reg. We have a phase2 on an A reg, it's in next week's but we did the front end and rear lights for the shoot. there was phase1 and phase2 both on A reg.
