dave21478 Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 This sums up France perfectly.Everything is closed and its impossible to buy anything from anybody. Even if you had managed to make contact with private sellers, an awful lot of them would expect you to pay a deposit and come back some days/weeks later to collect the car. Junkman 1
Guest Hooli Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 When I go abroad by bike I try to only buy fuel in frogshire, it's such a frustrating place.
Junkman Posted February 4, 2017 Author Posted February 4, 2017 And now our flight is delayed.Fucking useless bastards.
pshome Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 And now our flight is delayed.Fucking useless bastards.Luftwaffe or Air Chance?
garbaldy Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 You kicked a black cat, walked under a broken mirror or something along those lines.
AMC Rebel Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 I also finally figured out what 24/7 means in France.Opened 24 hours over 7 days. Minus the lunch breaks, of course. The Chains like 8 a Huit and 7 Eleven close for lunch and shut up at 7 (for the 8 a Huit) and 9 for the 7 "eleven". On the other hand, useless car sellers notwithstanding, I quite like the fact so much is closed so often - it certainly explains why their productivity is higher than the UKs. If we all went to work much less, ours would be too. egg 1
Skizzer Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 That's massively disappointing for you. Much sympathy. (And EasyJet too, just to cap it all.) At the same time, in a way I'm glad it's not just me that can't get anyone in France to even talk to me about buying their car. The only place worse for getting anything done is Belgium; maybe the Moon, but I've not been there. Junkman 1
panhard65 Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 I have never really had a problem before. I do normally go with a list of possibles and would make sure that they would talk to me first. The last time I went for a weekend we took the trailer and had a choice of 6 to look at of which only 3 would reply on the day. I would of bought any one of them (and did eventually buy all 3 within the next couple of years) but the sellers weren't prepared for me to collect that day so I ended up with the only one that would drive onto the trailer. The French don't really do anything in a hurry which is part of their culture and is a nicer way to live to be honest. Better luck next time guys, you should of gone to see Marina you would of at least come home with something. chodweaver 1
dave21478 Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 ...The French don't really do anything in a hurry which is part of their culture and is a nicer way to live to be honest. Easy to say, but believe me it gets real fucking tedious when you just want to get stuff done. Junkman and Skizzer 2
Ghosty Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 The French are probably all drunk and trying to get online on Minitels or something. bangernomics and egg 2
Junkman Posted February 4, 2017 Author Posted February 4, 2017 You kicked a black cat, walked under a broken mirror or something along those lines. We did absolutely nothing wrong. We went to France, cash in pocket, to buy some chod. You'd think they would be grateful. I could hardly be any easier for them, no?Instead they completely ignore you. Stupid wankers. More I say not.
Junkman Posted February 4, 2017 Author Posted February 4, 2017 The French are probably all drunk and trying to get online on Minitels or something. You know what, they aren't. At 22:00 the street lights are switched off! They don't even have lights on in their houses at that time. They do sod all, except try to bum cigarettes from you. alcyonecorporation 1

Junkman Posted February 4, 2017 Author Posted February 4, 2017 In retrospect, we made a mistake. We took the train from Nantes to Paris instead of to Cologne.Would we have done the latter, we'd now be on our way to Blighty in this: http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/details.html?id=238338919 adorned with perfectly legal export plates. I shit on France. chaseracer, AMC Rebel, Brodders and 7 others 10
Junkman Posted February 4, 2017 Author Posted February 4, 2017 Well, at least I get spammed with email now asking me to write reviews about the services* I received on my trip.Sadly, the only remotely positive one I can write is the one about the newfangled globaltosh. If that turns out to be the only positive review you can write about a trip, you may be able to imagine the shit we had to endure. eddyramrod 1

egg Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 I lived in France for a year as a student. They paid me housing benefit so my rent was £20 a week (1997). Took me months to apply for it and reams of paperwork of course. It is truly a different world.
garbaldy Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Nah, man. I'm done with France. I'm always up for a German trip and I guess a good few others would be too, maybe I should look for a minibus rather than a towcar. Twiggy 1

When? Anyway, I just arrived at the Junktowers and enjoy my first proper cup of hot beverage since Wednesday.I'm starting to feel like a human being again. Skizzer 1
