Vintage Stony 2017

Anyone planning to attend this show in Stony Stratford tomorrow? It's always a good one with a large turnout of interesting vehicles. I'll be there for the first time as an exhibitor so look out for a red Maxi.

I plan to be there not sure about which car as Hairnet is taking me because of some rule about not drinking and driving!

Usually I forget about it until lunchtime, then rush over there just as everyone else has left.

I'll look out for the Quicksilvermaxi and anything that looks like it might be Sixcylinder's before popping into Withnail's least favourite pub.

Only round the corner from me but the weather forecast is not good at the moment, hope it stays dry, always a great selection on show.

I'll be there, probably hugging a black coffee and standing the hoooge queue for bacon butties.

Ooof, I have just got up, and the weather is a bit meh.  It's an hour's drive away.  I don't think I'll go.

Weather very shit, lots of lovely shite.

No pictures, because nothing new.

Saw the Quicksilver Maxi, Mrs N very impressed with the seats in Dogging mode " Looks more comfortable than an XR3 ' says she. Which shows how long it's been since we had Ugandan discussions in a car.

Only noticed the SixCylinder Daimler on the way out, I'm sure I've parked a disreputable looking S1 there in my misspent youth, visiting The Plough or Forresters.

Highlights?

The tatty Bug Type 35.

The nice Bug Type 51.

The Gordon Keeble ( parked behind QS's Maxi , they must have read his blog)

The 3, yes 3 Stilettos parked in a row.

The Acclaim covered in Triumph stickers , to wind up TR types presumably.

Lows

The weather.

The hordes of loud rude, posh old men in Barbour coats.

The BMW i8 with exhibitors pass in prime spot.

Bonus. Ordering 1 bacon roll to share in The Crown , the waitress brought 2 out. When we told her , she said ' oh have it anyway, I can't be bothered to take it back to the kitchen!'

After last nights party I felt it was better to have a chauffeur drive today. I was disappointed to find the Daimler did not have a speaking tube to be able to instruct driver.

We decided to dine in the Super Sausage arriving in a Chauffeur driven Daimler!

Anyway thanks Hairnet.

I left it too late.  Most of the post war heaps had legged it by the time I arrived.  I biffed off to Six Cylinder's place to drop off some Daimler tat and drink lovely tea.  Thanks for the hospitality Mr and Mrs Six C.

Query alternator or battery problem on the way back - low volts all the way.

Thanks Breadvan for the Daimler parts, I have been out in the rain to check how the mirror looks and it seems perfect. Just too wet to fit it today.

Your Dolly brightened up our drive on this wet and dull afternoon.

I have just remembered that I forgot to bring over the eight track cartridges.  Next time.

I've just about dried out and warmed up now - twas very wet and cold and a lot of cars didn't stay long so there's probably stuff I missed. Good to see Hairnet and Mr & Mrs Cylinder, and the Maxi got a lot of interest. We've been going for several years and have never seen a Maxi there before. The yellow Astra was my favourite with that unusual Datsun a close second.

Hairnet's already covered most of the good stuff but my photos are at https://www.flickr.com/photos/quicksilver_coaches/albums/72157678488064266

Good thing Six-cyl didn't see this CX Safari for sale or he might have broken his no car buying resolution on the very first day!

It looked fairly good but I didn't spend much time examining it as it was so wet - the heavy rain no doubt flattered it and I did notice some tape on the back door. I'm sure the sign in the window said £3900.
