Family duty NYE/NYD here, too.  Trip to Aber sounds fun...  ^_^

Or we just pile up at yours and pretend to help "fix" the 2cv a bit.

You supply tea.

I'm too ashamed of the state of my garage. Can't actually do 'owt with the 2CV until I get more bits anyway. Boring.

I'll be checking in here tomorrow, to see where we are meeting up then.

NYD not a goer, NYD+1 good for me.

Wobblerville!  Bound to be something* we can usefully* do.  Also, fish and chips.

Yup, sounds like a plan.

To be honest, I just haven't thought of any plans for Monday yet. That's next year man. Ages away. Happy to host something if you like. Can certainly rustle up a scenic drive. If you guys can keep up with my 71bhp ZX that is.

Postponed till the second, venue to be decided after celebrationary breakfast at the usual establishment.

Or

SVR at Kiddiminster station. Like last year but a different location to mooch around.

Followed by cheese and nibbles.

Lol! Like everyone else it seems I'm not free on NYD because: Ma_Sterling and ferrying her from Southampton to Birmingham in the comfort of my BMW (Rover Sterling executive transport is not currently in action just yet)

So the 2nd it may be. If Kidderminster, I shall well be down sans car.

So: Truckers 8.30ish, then head west?  Or meet at the sandwich wagon next to Telford services, then head more wester?

Whatevs. As long as you're not here hideously early, then all should be fine. I don't do hideously early (ie before 10am) at this time of year. Wrap up, the forecast is for sunny but about 3 degrees. I'm slightly concerned that everywhere in town will be closed (seeing as it's a Bank Holiday) but I'm sure we can find lunch somewhere.

OK, change of plan.  Wales is off (sorry, Ian - but you can have a lie in now!) but we'll be at the Truckers Rest at about 9.30 to intercept Dugong as he heads back to Peterboghorror.

I'm not convinced I'm sober yet, so I'm oot.

What difference would it make?

I shall enjoy my lie in. Cheers chaps. I'll organise something over this way once the weather is warmer.

Excellent, on all counts.  When does the Museum of Fire open for the season...?

I wonder if I can get the Derby run at work?? I may go for a wonder round Scrapyard after work too if any of you folks still in Derby vicinity circa 1330/1400

Sounds interesting...

And it was.  Somehow we lost Bub on the A38 later, so hope he's OK...

I don't honestly know. It's playing mind games with me. Conflict of interests. Speedo says one thing, sat navigation says another. I know what is true but it's just seeing two things. I was doing around 55 or 70 depending what you read

Posted

If the satnav is constant (i.e. doesn't jump 55-70-55 or whatever) then that's right. Speedo is mechanical, can lose calibration. Satnav is maths, pure and simple so if it knows your location twice, it knows how fast you're going.

There used to be a measured mile near me - the road from Coxmoor crossing towards Ravenshead used to have a square painted on the tarmac, and then another a mile away. I was told they were for police speed checks where there was nothing else, which may be right as that road has no signs or bridges to use as a marker. Anyway, I used to use those to check my speedo in whatever heap I was driving before every £20 phone had GPS built in - plenty of room to get it to 60mph before the first square, hold it there, if you did it in 59s or less your speedo is reading slow (as you were actually doing more than 60), the opposite means the opposite.

Obvs I also had an unofficial time to hit the second marker too ;)

Speedo not jumping, it's constant apart from typical constant flutter. Sat nav says 55 speedo reads just over 70. The folks must have been doing around 70 cos they just zoomed off!

No, we stuck at 60-65.  Weird...

Anyhoo - next time, Bubster  :)

I was doing around 55. I don't drive fast these days. I forgot pub name too
