I read somwhere once  that there was a model of Volvo  that used a vag tdi engine , or did i dream it ?

Real or not ,and did they do an auto version ?

Late 850 and PH1 S/V70 used the 5 pot from the Audi A6. The majority are automatic as far as I can tell.

740 used something that was once in the VW LT. Does this mean you could create a Porsche 924 diesel?

The 5 pot ones are all fwd, the 7 and 9 series used the 6 pot LT van engine.

It's possible to make a rwd TDi but it involves quite a lot of work,

If you do, it must be painted brown, with a beige interior.

What i am getting at is  i want a rwd autobox  that will fit the Tdi engine ,  to go into somthing else

I think you might want a 960 auto box then. There's information out there on fitting fwd Volvo engines to rwd Volvos, I'd post a link or two if I was on the PC.

Audi A4 / A6 / Passat Quattro with welded centre diff. and bin the front diff.?

I expect it would be worth using one of those in-line engines rather than a transverse variant.

You might find your answer here. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=161139

They seem to be saying the TDi will bolt to the same bellhousing as the LT engine in the RWD Volvos. If that's the case it shouldn't be too hard to find an automatic box to suit, the RWD ones always seem to be automatic too.

Thanks for that going to have a good read of it

I have a few scrap A4's  with the AFN  110 Tdi  one is an auto  but both  in line fwd   .  I need an Auto so i am looking to find a rwd only autobox  which will mate up to it .

I have been running a tdi auto A4  for just over a year and the mpg is amazing  but the A4 isnt as comfortable to drive as a Sierra

Some Volvos were Renault diesels too iirc? I think it might have only been the s40/v40 though.
