One alarm and some surprises. Peugeot 406 HDi

2003 HDi (90BHP model, he said) saloon

MOT December.

The clocks read 170,000 but he said he changed the originals and it's done about 115,000 miles, last MOT cert said 102,000 so it could be true.

Looks pretty grotty but seemed to drive ok on the 3/4 mile t st drive I had and should be a bloody cheap runner for someone

There'll be horrible bits of paint, a wheeltrim missing etc hence the price.

I'll done a chemical suit and clean it later if I can be arsed.

£250, Chester.

How are these? There is a nice one owner, FSH estate (110bhp) in Appleby that I'm oddly tempted by.

Pretty good to be fair, quite a nice 'soft' drive. I've cleaned this one now, came up a bit better than I thought.

I've got the same but in estate form. Does a very good job of being a daily driver, spacious, comfy and so far very reliable. Mine's on 195k and they can do plenty more than that. Easy and cheap to maintain too.

Good looking car. What's with the black tape on both sills, under the front doors?

Posted

Seems to be holding the rubber door strip 'seal' things in place. He must have run out of Blu-tak.

The rubber strips that run along the sills, below the doors, come loose and hang down. Not sure why and if there's a fix.

I've got loads of black tape

I've got lots of Peugeot 406 for you to use it on.

My Xantia is fully on the ropes now, and this looks like a cracker replacement. Money searching in next few days. Massive interest....

Does it feel solid enough in all the right places? Test drive a shonky Pickering earlier but was too late to buy it. Think I might have dodged a bullet though, gearbox felt reet tired like...

Pretty sure it won't be a massive problem if you took it and paid me later. It feels solid enough but I really need to have a better look over it first. I think it wants at least one tyre, I'll rob the spare off my other one if it's any good.
