Golf Bits - important

Recommended Posts

Can anyone help? Does anyone have a very local VW dealer and would that someone be willing to visit said dealer to try and obtain two stupidly little parts for me? I will obv sort out payment and petrol. I need a lower coupling O ring (032121666) and a retaining spring (037121142E) for the Golf ('96 Mk3 1.6CL).

These are the only 2 bits that are stopping me from getting the Golf MOT'd and on the road.

Cheers

Ken

Can you not call a dealer and get them to post you the bits ?

That is one option but I thought that no-one did that anymore because not olden days :)

theres some orings on ebay , search by part number or size

the clips seems to be superceded by

032121142A

which is also on ebay ...take a look and check its right

Ok, just got the clip. Thanks for that :)

I'll have more of a search for the O ring later :)

Clips as seen are used on a gazillion VW group cars and are bought by the bagful.

O-rings are 36.5mm x 3.5mm. Given that my handy box of O-rings has 36x3. I'd just wack that in and if it leaks, add some splodge.

Given the above, what happened to visiting the Sunday parts shop local? (old-fashioned telephone before setting off / bet a good one would have them anyway for VAG lickers stuck doing a job) Can't be that urgent if you're waiting on the postie.

Well it isn't life threatening but the chappie who lets me use the garage has just bought a new Corsa and is making noises about putting it in the garage.

....I'm half tempted to go round to the local motor parts place in this tiny Irish town (population c. 7,000) and go and buy one.

Welcome to Halfords round here. Local factors closed :(

wouldnt be my first choice , but ive used this stuff before and its worked ok , handy to have a few sizes in the shed for when you get stuck on these random parts

just glue the ends with superglue...like i say worked for me , but id rather a proper one

Autostore Motor Factors, Winchmore Hill? Google* says open 10-1.

*Search engine fat bloke down the internet says

Alternatively, if I had to trot to a dealers on a working day: Alan Day VW, Trans City Skoda or Currie Seat aren't a bustin' distance away.

But if I had to do it today, I'd be splodging and tie-twisting a coathanger wire round it. ;)

For reference, should anyone do a search and arrive here:

Also spoke to a mate and he told me of two local places - sadly neither had O rings of a suitable size. I'll check out the Winchmore one tomorrow.

Give 'em a bell first. I don't want to see a grump post tomorrow!

FWIW, I find it handy to just have a box of the bastards. I bought mine years ago because Kawasaki were taking the piss for some poxy 10mm O-rings for the oil cooler. They were wanting something of the order of about 1.30ea + VAT, so I went to BSL and bought a box.

I should add, it's only a good idea IF you remember where you put them when you need them!
