bub2006 Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Before I go and fetch a holy Mondeo with gaffa tape aplenty I thought I'd ask here. Has anyone got a car they want gone today? Diesel, petrol, manual or auto. 200 quid or payment plan if possible? I know I'm an arse but I have to ask! Cheers. chodweaver 1
dollywobbler Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 You may win a Colt tomorrow! I'd offer that, but the money has already come marching in from most folk. Also, there's not much left of today.
bub2006 Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 That's true but I have promised a ten year old boy I'd take him out tomorrow. Struggled getting to work this morning too.
Stanky Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Is it worth hiring something to fix the short-term issue of tomorrow then looking to sort out a permanent solution next week? it'll probably cost £25 to change the insurance to a temporary car, plus whatever adjustment on the policy price and I bet you can hire a grotty C1 or similar for a day for not a whole lot more than that.
bub2006 Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 Don't like hiring/renting but its something to consider
oldcars Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 What about cavcrafts 405 with a towbar, he was giving £100 off cant remember the price. Seems a bit pointless buying a rotten mondeo with no towbar for your van, to spend £££ fixing it to get rid in a few weeks. Cavcraft and trigger 2
bub2006 Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 Mondeo has towbar. Only 3 owners and typical rust on arches and will. oldcars 1
oldcars Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Might be worth a punt then. What mot history like on it?
oldcars Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 It reads like the last owner uses a mot as a service. Just read about your Audi, bad news and make me think this cheap Mondeo could just be more grief you don't need.
oldcars Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 PBK has a 214 with a towbar but not sure if that could manage your van or not. £375 with mot.
Cavcraft Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Panic buying a £60 Mondeo for £200 probably isn't going to end well. scruff, dave21478, mercrocker and 10 others 13
Mr_Bo11ox Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 That's true but I have promised a ten year old boy I'd take him out tomorrow. Struggled getting to work this morning too.WTF did you do that for if you had no wheels? Lord Sterling, Cavcraft, scruff and 2 others 5
Cleon-Fonte Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 If £200 is your maximum budget you'd be far better served by this beauty* than a manky Mongdeo. oldcars, holbeck and catsinthewelder 3
xtriple Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 If you were closer you could borrow the Kia which I 'think' you would like (auto, V6, air con, leather) but the fuel consumption may put you off!
bub2006 Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 WTF did you do that for if you had no wheels? That promise was made last weekend when I last seen him. Tensioner quit last night. Ive took folks advice and walked from Mondeo. Thanks for offer too x triple oldcars 1
RayMK Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Apart from rust and a grim interior, Hyundai Pony/Excel is usually a reliable means of transport. Gumtree says its rear wheel drive. It isn't. MK1 and 2 Ponies were, but the later ones were transverse engine and front drive. I would keep looking! Cleon-Fonte and oldcars 2
egg Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 This looks a good Mondy in Dudley, but it is a manual, has all the bits done. Reckon you could get it for £300.... It's been on the Facebook group, seller is selling it for his mum. https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/ford-mondeo-18-16v/1180563452
scruff Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I thought you had a few motors knocking about Bubz??
sierraman Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 You could drop on but a £200 motor is likely to have something chronic up with it. That said shadow finds some pretty respectable stuff for the equivalent of what you'd spend on a visit to the boozer. egg and Cavcraft 2
bub2006 Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 I thought you had a few motors knocking about Bubz??Nope only one.
Sloth in a bowl Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I can lend you the Puma till you have something more permanent available if you want. chaseracer, Mally, andrew e and 1 other 4
bub2006 Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 That's a very kind offer. Thank you. I'll drop you a message. Only looking for something for a month or so worst case.
