I thought one of the rear seatbelt sockets was knackered in ToMM©... However, I discover, the LAP buckle won't fit the shoulder strap/ViccieVerccie. Doh!!

**also** L8 News...

I have a rear 'centre armrest' shock...

OK - I don't travel in the back :)

I think some seriousToMM© Tyre Replacement Investigations will occupy most of this upcoming week ;)

I miss that car I really do! I was thinking about it as we drove round French countryside last June, it's such a nice car to drive!

Tyres are on.....

Slightly less 'gangsta stance' evident 8)

Found my tyres with a load of others, as delivered. Lots of other sizes of Landsail in the plile!

Not alot of clearance on the strut >> however, no worse than the others. That ET37 is key.

SO... nice and quiet and the wheel centring hasn't moved/no squirming or anything odd. :-P

*PDi related musings....

Guy yesterday took my (hand cranked) wheelnuts (FORD ally spec) off with the windy....

He then rethreaded them... carefully, using his long windy socket in his hand... and NOT RABIDLY re-windied them up ;-)

Dropped the 2post, until tyres on ground, and went round with the 4foot clikka... every one needed a 'pull' and one, two pulls...

No Scaffy Poles are foretold in my future :-P

I was standing by the car mind 8)

After Wilco [see Tyre Valvecap escapade] I jogged on to PoondWurlld [*also Silverlink].

Blew a whole poond on a 'no-name' tin of fizzy spray grease.... went round ToMM© and blasted the hinges as they were looking a bit 'long cold winter..' to me. It fizzes >> liquefies >> gloops >> sets like grease...

Just the Donkeys, I would have to say  :-P. +  2/3 tin left....

One of my brake lights has gone off. Popped lamp cover off to swap it but noticed a trace of condensation on the inside of the 'orange' section... Nothing at all in 'red' brake/stop.

Currently watching over SWMBOs hairdrier... blowing a warm force9 into the lampholder hole ;)

..... plates look quite nice, on. And no holes... that 3M stuff is evil!!  8)

Old, dealer one [off the back] is in the boot. Front was a replacement.

*Just remembered... Reversing light has been out, since I got the car likely (.. but just discovered fairly recently!) It's a simple job... under the bootlid & just twist lampholder.

I was idling some time on the PC earlier and did a 'scan' of Reg Nos, around mine - possibly at the same dealers.

The MOT site allows you to keep hammering registrations in until you hit something.

J417LFY = Corolla, Last MOT 2009 96k

J419LFY = Carina, Last MOT 2007 81k

J420LFY = Carina, Last MOT 2006 150k

J421LFY = Carina, Last MOT 2010 131k

Hmm... looks like the salesman had a busy week.

Sadly, likely no longer 'available for spares'  :-(

This stuff from Halfrauds (competitive £3.99 @ 400ML, against Amazon)....

http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/grease/halfords-silicone-lubricant-400ml

Halfords Silicone Lubricant 400ml

Anyone reckon it might help with my old/flat doorseals (+ slightly creaky drivers power window!) ??

TS

I suspect there are dozens of specialist products which cost £££ and claim to renovate rubber seals. In the world of Autoshite, the humble silicone spray should be good enough.

An alternative would be silicone grease out of a tub, I prefer it to the spray form as it's less messy to apply and seems to last longer.

That product is ace for releasing my Mondeo's sticky rear door handles. Very useful.

I do also spray a bit on the seals sometimes.

I HAVE A FAULT

Yes folks..... I had occasion to notice only one brake light (drivers side off). I sent the rugrat round to check if both tail & stop.. YUP  :-(

Quick rummage in my 'toolkit of saviours/box of useful spares' threw up a Tail/Stop. I wizzed the lamp assy off and swapped the bulb and went in the house.... Well?? New Bulb = FIX, No.. ???

Thismorning I was queuing and noticed something odd.... my sidelights were on, reflected in the front cars bootlid + my foot was on the brake.... Foot off/Lights off  :?

Arriving at Tesco, shopping as usual, I wizzed the lamp assy off and checked the bulb... minty fresh.

Put it back in again - pressed the brake - drivers door open - Lights Buzzer.... $hit!!

Rummaging further into my spares box I find a 'scrapyard freebie' lamp - jeeze :shock: , dunno how old! - and whacks that back in >> repeat test... ALL A-OK.

Bastard Chinkkie $hite..... what do you expect @ poondies.

That scrappie bulb had likely been in an old Proton for 10yr before I pinched it......

Glad to have an exciting bit of 'fault finding' to recount  :-P

Good to see more Toyo-shite in the toon! That looks to be a very similar colour to my Corolla.

I'll keep an eye out for any Carina bits in my local scrappy (Backworth) as they get decent stuff in along with all the Micras and Kas.

Lathered light grease into my power roof - the tracks/drive cables/lift brackets today. Used a good quality brush - came in a Chinkkie repair kit for a smartphone!

Very dry and grungy.... Sounds happier :)

Still got the glass 'cull-umping' noise, when dropping the tilt BUT I have found a pdf, with advice on slackening 'roof clamping bolts' for minor alignment tweaks :)

We Will See....
