Friday evening commuting spots.

As I've probably bored enough of you with already, I have a regular 215 mile north-south/south-north commute for work, heading down Sunday night, back up Friday evening.

Since it's got light enough to see other cars properly, I've seen some interesting stuff, but it was only after seeing 2 different Lotus Elan 2+2s on the M5 and a Aston Martin DBS V8 in M42 traffic on the same evening that I thought, "Why don't I have my camera to hand?".  Being a fatalist, I assumed that having the camera handy would mean that the spots would dry up, but no, it's not been the case.  More Lotuses have appeared, usually on the M5, but tonight's was just before the M32.

We'll start with tonight's meagre offerings and work our way back - it may take some time as I'm a lazy fucker, but comments and likes are good for the ego and make you feel like your efforts are appreciated and hence more inclined to post up content (hint hint!)

The Friday night Lotus appearing as mentioned even before I got onto the M32:

Then there was a Volvosaurus, I'm sure I've seen this one previously:

Finally, I received a phonecall from 1988, it wanted its Ford Cortina back...

PS, if anyone else wants to play, feel free to add them to this thread - but only if they're from a Friday. Otherwise, add them to your own spotting thread or Hillman Imp's Lazy Spotters' Thread.

That's ace! It looks like it set out on a journey in that year and just hasn't stopped since.

I know! I changed lane and slowed down to even get these shonky shots, can you imagine how gruesome it looks in life??!!!

Reminds me of Onslows in keeping up appearances!

Yo! THAT Cortina is the spot of the century right there.

The Cortina must be up there with the grey grille Sierra as far as national importance goes. It had a couple of advisories on the last ticket...

"71,704 miles on the clock. There were also the following advisories: whole car starting to rust nearside front Brake hose slightly deteriorated (3.6.B.4d) offside front Brake hose slightly deteriorated (3.6.B.4d) front registration plate deteriorated but not likely to be misread (6.3.1d) nearside rear Trailing arm has slight play in a pin/bush arm bush (2.4.G.2) Brake master cylinder/servo mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (3.6.C.3) Seat belt anchorage prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive (5.2.6) ."

Genuine 71k I wonder?!

Whole car "starting" to rust?

Was this the MOT sheet from 1984?

Omg! That Cortina, I want it. It looks just like most of them did 20 odd years ago.

I nearly had an accident (actual accident not trouser!) once a few years ago on the M1 when I came up on a green mk3 in a similar state. It had a roof rack loaded with ladders too so looked to be a daily.

Poor spotting tonight, I hope this isn't the end of the good spots!  They seemed to all be going south - a classic Seddon Atkinson, an 'M' prefix ERF, and a convertible 13/60 Herald were the pick of the bunch but were gone before I could pick up the camera.

The best was the car that should be rivaling 306s and ZXs for popularity, but they are getting really quite rare now - an Audi 80 estate.  I properly like these, despite being an Audi:

Then there was this Merc coupé:

...and that's it.
