Small, 45+ mpg, radge-as-fuque hatchback choices...

Oh right, I'll have a look on the Pug here...

MPG? Lupo dizzle? Scrub that, are there any unmolested Reliant Kittens left? Or just go the whole hog and I've done long journeys in a 3-wheeler - the only thing of concern isn't the comfort, it's the hearing loss.

Knew you have had Reliant's what kind of miles were you doing?

The Alfa I am selling does 45mpg*, is a hatchback, is small (er than the focus its parked next to) and is pretty fast and well suited to long journeys due to its very comfortable seats :)

How about a smart car (fortwo city coupe) these are coming down in price now and the hatch is quite spacious.

I bought myself a tidy one which had only done 50000 for £550 with a years ticket and apart from giving the car a cheap service (only needs 2.7 litres of oil) and a £20 updated sump with plug it's not needed anything spent on it apart from a couple of little upgrades.

Once you get the hang of the gearbox the car makes driving fun at speeds that won't cost you a licence and do close on 50 to the gallon, I only put about £15 a month in mine and it's great for parking.post-9282-0-38058400-1470167494_thumb.png

Unsurprisingly, I'm going to agree with your choice of Rover. MrsH has a 220Di and it goes like stink, and will return a verified 59mpg if you're sensible. MrsH drives it 30 miles a day during the week and always sees 52mpg+, and bar an alternator, has been totally reliable.

Check the roof guttering under the black plastic trim, as they rot like buggery under there and leak like sieves if it goes through. That'll be what kills ours.

How about the rekindling the Y10 love. A piffling train ride and Phils approval gets it.

I'd love to do that, but I really can't justify the risk of either the Friday evening journey home or where it'd be parked during the time it is in Bristol, it's a grade D risk area and a rush-hour rat-run.  It's too special a car.
