Car needed for Son

Recommended Posts

Son has a 2004 Steetwise diesel which has FTP'd one time too many. Looking for something to keep him mobile so he can get to and from work. Something with a chunk of MoT, not too spendy on insurance as he's only been driving 6 months and sub £500 if possible. The nearer to Hawick the better. Anyone know of anything?

PS anyone want a Streetwise as it's currently abandoned in his works car park with no brakes - recent new clutch and tyres :-)

Have you thought about a Citröen AX?

I've not seen one for sale in ages, but I reckon that'd be about perfect.  Cheap on everything, including entry price.

Good luck.

Only problem with the ax idea is if son is six foot with size thirteen shoes. The pedals are tiny and very close together- and this comes from someone who can drive an X1/9 in brogues!

I should have ticket on a minging 25 diesel by next week.

It's in Peterborough.

How about a Saxa or C15 van, Renault 5, Cit ZX 1.4

Chop his legs down a bit and make him wear smaller shoes. He then he may be worthy enough to purchase a fine blue AX 'cos there hasn't been one for sale for ages as rightly mentioned above.

Just got to ask a friend if she's interested, if not then I'll be putting our reliable but now redundant (as the Lag is proving a trusty steed) 2002 Astra mk4 1.6 16v up for sale this week. Low miles (iirc 67k ish - owned by wife Grandad for 10yrs previous to us), good on fuel, actual working aircon, 4 nearly brand new tyres and it's been the cheapest car I've ever had on insurance.

Con - I'm in Bristol...
