Diagnostic shite

Looking for recommendations for free/cheap OBD diagnostic software for Windows that I can run as a backup / quicker alternative to my Delphi DS150E and manufacturer specific kit like Lexia/Diagbox

Just bought a very cheap Windows 10 tablet and a bluetooth ELM327 based reader and have some other interfaces etc knocking around

Keen for something that'll be able to do basic diagnostics on loads of different cars so I can do quick triage of faults before breaking out the big guns

I use obdwiz and find it superb, but I don't know whether it works with generic ELM327 or whether it has to be a obdlink one as it came free with my obdlink sx.

Obviously for Rover, MG and LandRover it has to be http://www.pscan.eu

I tried several  apps and ELM327 interfaces and never had any joy.. I must be a retard ??

Not sure if the interface i have bought will be any use but it was dirt cheap.

My Delphi unit will work on Windows 10 so I'm confident I'll be able to use that with this tablet if needs be - it's needed for a data logging exercise on a customer's car though so I'd rather have some kind of backup

I can recommend an old snap on machine for quick plug ins . My ethos plus has been a brilliant tool for the money ( it was 1200 new ) but they are on eBay for just a couple of hundred .

The software isn't time bombed so you can keep using it for years without an update .

It's main appeal is how quick it is to just plug in and do a service reset / read codes / live data .

It does most systems on most makes apart from Saab and yank stuff but is read only so won't do coding etc .

Pretty heavy Snap On tax on them though, I haven't seen them that cheap before, think you got lucky

Was 1200 off the van brand spankers .The only thing I've had on tick but it was 20 quid a week and I figured one plug in a week and it's paid for .

It's earnt me a good amount of return now .

Ah sorry I thought you said you bought it second hand - fair play

They sell for strong money on the used market as far as I can tell

My £40 Windows 10 tablet and £6 ELM327 Bluetooth dongle arrived today - found some app on the Windows store that can talk to it and do very limited stuff (but I'm testing it on a Scenic II which is an awkward bastard)

Still looking for better software but the tablet is unreal for the money

I've used a few decent apps on my windows phone with a cheap elm dongle. I've not really scratched the surface with them really, just wanted to find out if the cold/normal/fucked temp lights are accurate or lie.
