HARDPOINT SAW UPDATE

Turning out to be quite the useful thing, this 605. Here it is towing a colleague's Lotus Esprit.

I took it to the Aldi to buy porridge.

MGF had royally borked its battery; it wasn't holding charge and my CTEK read an error when I tried to charge it, so I had the wizard wheeze of jumping it off the Pug.

GREAT SUCCESS occurred. CTEK is now charging the 'F's 063 - although that's the least of its problems at the moment.

Colleague said the 605 occasionally bogged down and stalled. I reckon the injectors and fuel filter probably need doing.

In the interim, I did the lazy bodge artist thing and brimmed the tank with expensive BP MEGA DIESEL, luzzing a bottle of Fortran treatment in for good measure.

Result: much improved. No more hesitancy between 25 and 30 mph, although it's still lethargic from cold.

I have the details of an injector cleaning specialist and the glow plugs are hashed anyway.

Good stuff. These big, white French barges are bloody awesome things. Problem with mine is that it's so useful for so many things that I can't see how I'll ever replace it. Which is presumably why I still own it.

Because hatchback?

Your XM is the only one I've tried without feeling as if I was going to be overtaken by the impending ring main / electric failure harbinger of doom.

FITTER. HAPPIER. ARGUMENT SUPPLEMENTAL (allllllllllll).

The injector nozzles will be well past it but they have to be utterly fucked to affect these old indirect injection diesels much.

I'd go around the fuel pipes and replace the fuel filter first.

Does it have a filter head with a primer built in? They can be a fail point.

It's a true case of less is more. Lowly spec FTW.

Are you sure the noise from the car isn't your stomach rumbling from digesting food long past its best before date?

This man ate a sun ripened out of date ASDA sweet and sour chicken I found behind the garage. He's pretty hardy.
