Cheeky little collection- an antidote to long distance epics.

After being failed by this esteemed forum , not once but 3 times in the last week or so, it looked as if the elder MissN and 3 mates would have to go to Chateau FathaN squashed into her modern Fiat 500.

In fact Chunnel crossing is booked for 08.00 tomorrow....

But , an almost forgotten about car owner on the Blue forum made contact today.

So we're about to view, buy and collect a 20 year old £350 heap from a total stranger for her to leave for Dover at 05.00 tomorrow WCPGW?

A lot could go wrong, but we still expect pics and words. Good luck.

Drove for, ooh 35 minutes to Aylesbury met nice bloke called Gareth, drove it, paid £350 drove to Tesco garage for fuel and more importantly picture. Took picture .

Stopped at hand car wash, for £5 it's probably doubled the value- looks loads better.

Drove home- everything fine.

Can't get pictures from phone onto iPad!

Even after upgrading cloudy storage or whatever- suspense for photos will be maintained.

It has factory cassette storage in console, my purchases from the Incosistant Shittania Music club finally have a home!

It's a C200 Elegance auto. 115k with reams of history and 2 owners up until this year.

The lacquer has gone flat on the roof( looks like a carbon roof) and peeled a bit on the rear wing apart from that looks presentable.ncracked front bumper, which I've made look loads better* by putting a strip of black gaffer tape over the worse of .

Interior is perfect ,not a mark and being an elegance it's nicely trimmed albeit in cloth, it's got air con which seems to work, will get verdict tomorrow when they get a bit further south.

Also Elegance means lovely soft ride helped no doubt by big squishy 205/60 15s, 3 of which are nearly new Michleins, the fourth a good Kleiber.

Cannot go wrong with one of these - a properly good long distance cruiser!

Well bought.

P reg and it's not completely oxidised?

Good buy! Prefer the wagons myself but they're a nice car. We nearly got an N-reg C250TD Elegance (dark green and beige interior!) a few years ago but it was fucked rust-wise.

No it's not rotten, nowhere as our 2001 CLK has four frilly arches and I had them done 4 years ago with real paint, seems with 90's early 200's Mercs its luck of the draw.

Isn't t'internet wonderful, I've just Taxed it, added to M I D, added to my Dart Charge account, bought breakdown cover ( £28 AXA) and changed Eurotunnel booking without getting up from the Sofa.

Chez Fatha N achieved.

It seems this is OK, just had 650 mile test drive, the first 130 to Folkestone at highly unwise speeds because her booking was at 7.15 not 8.15 apparently.

Didn't miss a beat , no fluids apart from petrol used. Aircon works too.

Perhaps Mrs N will stop giving me grief for my "last minute dot com attitude to everything" like that's a bad thing.
