Guest Hooli Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Places that stop serving food at 7pm only do lunch. The Moog 1
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Glossop is a good location, worth the treck. Unlimited free parking and a good restaurant serving decent food until 11. chaseracer and Cleon-Fonte 2
Junkman Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Indeed. Some obscure greasy spoons next to the M60 sound a lot stranger to me.
stillOrange Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Mrs works until 7 tonight so unfortunately I would not be coming unless there's a bouncy castle or one of you guys is a children entertainer.
Dave_Q Posted October 4, 2016 Author Posted October 4, 2016 I think a large part of the initial reason for choosing Glossop is the fact its a nice drive in. You probably can't say that for the epicentre of the M60 roadworks. However, I and nobody else are the boss of anything here, I started this thread and it turned out some people came along, maybe start a new one for a North Manc meet and see how many are interested, I probably would be depending on dates. Just don't plan it for the same night as this, or we'll cut you. Cleon-Fonte, strangeangel, Junkman and 2 others 5
costadelglosta Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I was unable to attend past few meetings due to parlour state of my finances and associated lack of gainful employment. Once this situation is improved I will return! And may even eat steak. strangeangel 1
Dave_Q Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 ....a deal on the blingo I sort of meant more like this: Of course, none of us will actually follow through with this patently empty threat, although it should be noted that any unauthorized use of the registered trademark NORTHERN POWERHOUSE will be aggressively pursued by our lawyers. I must admit though, I was about ready to cut someone trying to get back last night - the A628 was closed, the roadworks man gave me directions that led me round an "unsuitable for motor vehicles" track and back round to the roadworks - I ended up having to come back via Stalybridge/Mossley/Greenfield. Hope everyone else made it back alright. Cleon-Fonte, bub2006 and strangeangel 3
Junkman Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 A set of dark glasses in a black Osiris case has been found in the Solara. Is any Glossop Powerhouser missing them?
strangeangel Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 the A628 was closed, the roadworks man gave me directions that led me round an "unsuitable for motor vehicles" track and back round to the roadworks - I ended up having to come back via Stalybridge/Mossley/Greenfield. Hope everyone else made it back alright. I ended up going home via the A57, lucky it was a nice night for a drive with the roof down. Bit windy on the tops mind!
Ghosty Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Glossop Vehicle Enthusiasts Club are holding a show in aid of HM Forces at Glossop's Manor Park on Sunday the 16th. I pop to these sometimes as they're local, it tends to be the same people a lot (such as a red Maxi 2 with a beige interior, vinyl roof and a Supercover sticker, that Manchester Shitty abomination, a Saab club, some PiTy Cruisers, some military stuff, that bloke that dailies a Mk1 Escort etc), but it's something to do on a Sunday, so it could be worse. Just thought I'd post it up on the off-chance anyone's bothered. Junkman 1
dugong Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I would have come to that had I still lived in Cheshire. I don't live in Cheshire any more.
Junkman Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I don't like that HM Forces bit one bit, but just imagining a shite avalanche of Chodmolestly proportion unleashing itself onto the event gives me immense satisfaction. chaseracer, Cleon-Fonte and strangeangel 3
Ghosty Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 It'd be easy to do something like that. Pretty small show no idiotic announcers though. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Manor+Park/@53.4481576,-1.9399768,291m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x31fd4b06bb3d3899!8m2!3d53.4481466!4d-1.9400862 It's on the bit of grass labelled 'Manor Park', and takes up all the space diagonally downwards and right to the road. Parking is often be a bit tight nearby on show days.
Ghosty Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Er, tomorrow is the first Tuesday of the month... strangeangel 1
Ghosty Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I think it's a bit short notice for a decent turnout anyway (unless folks had it pencilled in) - shall we defer a week? chaseracer 1
Dave_Q Posted October 31, 2016 Author Posted October 31, 2016 I R also confused about what day it is, let's do next week.
strangeangel Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I R also confused about what day it is, let's do next week. NORTHERN POWERHOUSE SPECIAL - TGB CHALLENGE: build a moped from a big pile of parts in a Derbyshire car park. Dave_Q and Junkman 2
3VOM Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Er, tomorrow is the first Tuesday of the month...Was thinking about this earlier. Next week would be better from my point of view too.
Dave_Q Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Back to the front page. This is this Tuesday. I'm probably not going to bring a moped to assemble, only because the carpark is cold and the pub is warm. strangeangel 1
strangeangel Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 I'm probably not going to bring a moped to assemble, Me neither, as I was outbid (probably for the best) on that manky Chinese electric moped. Do we know if they've finished digging holes in Woodhead Road yet?? Dave_Q 1
Dave_Q Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 I think its meant to be finished, I've just looked and seen dates of "end of October" and 16th October mentioned which means there is up to a 1 in 5 chance they've actually finished. strangeangel 1
Ghosty Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I might be doing some cycle-based bodgery in the day tomorrow, so I might end up coming to the meet equipped with a breaker bar, God forbid anyone needs it.
Dave_Q Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 Yo Ghosty, if you're having bike problems I feel bad for you son I've got piles of bits here and at least 2 90s vintage scrappers to rob bits off, just let me know if/what you need and I'll bring it along.
Ghosty Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I'll be fine - this is just me and a mate messing about with that shitter Saracen I got the other day. We've got a fair stash of parts between us too! Breaker bar is mainly to remove a fucked old bottom bracket from matey's frame.
Dave_Q Posted November 7, 2016 Author Posted November 7, 2016 Fair enough, just that you mentioned you were using that Raleigh to get to work and I wondered if it was breakdown enforced bodgery. Weather forecast for tomorrow is Bad Times, amazingly though the MOT gods have finally smiled on my Subaru and I've just put my winter tyres on so BRING IT, WEATHER.
Junkman Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 I'll be fine - this is just me and a mate messing about with that shitter Saracen I got the other day. ??? Ghosty and chaseracer 2
