vectra woes

my brother has an 02 Vectra 2.2 diesel with an odd problem.it'll start no problem but dies when you try and move off.diagnostic says fuel pump and cam sensor which is. £800.he paid £400 for it so before it moulders on the road side can anybody help?

probably not as he's not mechanical minded.but the garage bloke hooked it up to laptop and that said fuel pump and cam sensor.

Isnt the cam sensor actually the pump speed sensor on these ? Prob the leccy bit on top of the pump.
