Volvo 740 engine wanted scotland

As all old volvo seem to land up this side of the border this should hopefully be an essy request to fulfill .

 

I know a chap who has an 87 ish 740 with a knackered engine. His is a 2.0l. I suggested and 2.0 or a 2.3 should be easy enough to get hold of, i also suggested that a 2.3 would go straight in and work in his? Am i correct? Any ideas or advice welcome. I have steered the chap to this place so hope he will appear. 😀

When my dad blew up his 2.3 carbed 740 we couldn't find an engine and it got scrapped. Did spot the odd 2.0 injected lump though. I recon banger racers could help you out here..

I'd think it's maybe K-Jet injection.

Shouldn't be too hard to find one.

I know where (in Aberdeenshire) there's a B230 turbo lump sitting. I'm off to pick up a car from the guy Easter weekend and take it back to Cumbria (he's South of Aberdeen but not far) if it was any use I could possibly deliver?

 

I've been offered it as a potential modification to the Volvo I've bought for £300 which looks cheap by eBay prices, but I don't need or want it and if I did want a turbo Volvo engine in an older model it would have an extra cylinder... He might want a bit more for it if not selling with the car but I'd be happy to pay him the £300 and pass it on for that! Has all its ancillaries but no gearbox.

If yours is K-jet (almost certainly), and you want to keep the K-jet, you'll need an identical engine, or to transplant your cylinder head onto the new one as it has injector holes in the head itself.

What's the exact problem with yours?
