"A bit Bagpuss" LOL

My nomination is:

Fiat Panda

I know some people have had bad karma from them but ours really has been an excellent little car, fun to drive, nothing has broken off and no FTPs. I also think they look funky and can genuinely see people preserving them in the future.

I had a W124 260e in boggo interior spec, not that exciting to drive but it felt like it'd last forever & was at least properly RWD so safe in shite weather. I hate FWD & how it forces you into massive understeer when it gives up, at least with RWD you can choose to crash backwards.

Don't buy an Eleganza.

Wecome to the Modern Age.

But whenever I say everything post 1986 is shit, which is an undeniable fact, I get slagged.

Is that launch year or production year?

How about Vauxhall Nova turbo diesel?

That was an amazing little car, I thought it would be grim but it wasnt at all. Far quicker than you would imagine and great on fuel.

I would of kept it but back then it was prime boy racer material and having a white 3 door made me feel silly.

Since when does the yank agricultural equipment posted above belong in the modern age? lol.

My vote goes to e.g. the Toyota Glanza... the diametric opposite in virtually all respects to the aforementioned yank stuff.

.

They're still producing most of it!

Multipla is the OPTIUM inside layout for a modern family day out.

Husband, Wife, 2 kids and 2 grandparents. The number of times we've had to go somewhere in 2 cars. (about 6 in 10 years!!!)

Another vote for these from me, and I say that as someone who doesn't like them. I avoid driving Our Lass' one wherever possible, as I find it cramped, uncomfortable and gutless. That said, she got her 2006 model at 2 years old with 4000 miles on the clock; it has now survived 131000 miles of her unremittingly leaden right foot and complete lack of mechanical empathy:

"How long has it been making that grinding noise when you brake?"

"What grinding noise?"

You get the picture. Anyway, it's still here and showing no signs of imminent demise, and has never failed to bring her home. The only non-routine stuff that's been replaced in all that time are:

- the front struts

- the radiator (damaged when some twat drove into it while parked)

- one catalytic converter (destroyed by Our Lass driving off a ten foot high 'kerb')

- two sets of brake discs (destroyed by Our Lass' complete lack of awareness of her own car begging for mercy)

That's pretty heroic in my book.

I think they drive great, possibly because with the body roll and tiny-ness it feels like you're going really fast all of the time. A modern car that isn't a fat blob and laden with loads of unnecessary tat, a refreshing change when the Fiesta etc have turned into big trinkets. The first Aygo fits into that bracket too but they're just a bit too mingebag for me, I hate 3 cylinder engines and they're just a bit too small - the Panda has proper doors, a usable boot and isn't missing a cylinder. The Aygo-alikes seem tough as old boots though, see loads with company branding, no doubt thrashed mercilessly every day.

Suzuki-Alto-Celebration-front-three-quar

I've said it loads of times before but these little Altos are so much better than I expected.  I wasn't certain that I would fit into it at first but they are good fun to drive on local roads and our rental pair end up all over the place and always keep the customers happy.
