HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Righto, will try one of these live update thingys. Its not too far this one but I am up too early and am getting a train from here: When I was at school we were in a band called Glenda Jackson, named as such because we opened a newspaper and pointed at a word on the page for our name. I think it was the real Glenda Jackson that opened the station as I dont remember doing it. First mode of transport was this: This entire process is proving a lot more difficult because of an excess of this last night: (thats not me BTW, I like to think I look younger than my years but thats a bit much) Jim Bergerac, The Moog, Conrad D. Conelrad and 12 others 15
HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Saw these photos in the waiting room for a bit of chod based excitement. Was parking cars on the platform a think back in Nam? skattrd, Asimo, Skizzer and 7 others 10
HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Nothing of interest at Leeds station except a woman crashing her suitcase into a post and dropping it, which I picked up for her like the gentleman I am. Can confirm she was quite fit. Saw this parked in York station from the train. Junkman and skattrd 2
HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Currently in Darlo waiting for connection to Redcar to get a white car. Its bleak. Junkman, Tickman and The Moog 3
HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Looks like this marvel of engineering is my next mode of transport. Bit of a wait. Might buy a sausage roll. The Moog, M'coli, Coprolalia and 7 others 10
Skizzer Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Is that one of those trains made out of recycled Leyland National buses? Top darts if so. Junkman 1
HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 I have always wondered about that. They look like them don't they but are slightly less comfortable, although they seem to have upgraded to proper seats as opposed to those bench seats they used to have. Smells like a tramp has pissed himself on it.

JohnK Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 The trains that run from Darlington over to Redcar are grim. Much better than they used to be though.
Pillock Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Those Pacers are a generation on from the original Railbus. Junkman, Skizzer and Sealtainn 3
Inspector Morose Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Is that one of those trains made out of recycled Leyland National buses? Top darts if so. There is a long and tedious answer to that and if I hadn't consumed most of a bottle of rather fine Merlot last night, I probably would have bored you all senseless with it. So, yes. Craig the Princess, Sealtainn, Skizzer and 1 other 4
Inspector Morose Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Those Pacers are a generation on from the original Railbus.Which is a generation on from this: Which is a generation on from this: Which was a updated version of this: Pillock, HillmanImp, Sealtainn and 5 others 8
Skizzer Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I knew you'd know I've always been curious, so you can tell me the long version over a beer at Shitefest. Inspector Morose 1
Richard Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 If you go to Whitrope Sidings you can have a ride on RB004, one of the prototypes. Inspector Morose, Skizzer, Pillock and 1 other 4

HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Heading how now, will update upon my return. All good so far. Conrad D. Conelrad, Dick Cheeseburger, Coprolalia and 18 others 21
Dick Cheeseburger Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Great choice. Your* Rover seems to be more notorious than the TG Hilux. I can see great fury and public floggings being unleashed on the shiter who is the one who eventually has to admit, 'I killed Bollox' Rover.' Mr_Bo11ox, HillmanImp and Junkman 3
tooSavvy Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 WOW... That font reminds me of the cover 'The Usual Suspects'. ... quite appropriate as we have one here OMG(nahh)HGF.FTP TS

I can see great fury and public floggings being unleashed on the shiter who is the one who eventually has to admit, 'I killed Bollox' Rover.'I'd like to think it would eventually end up back at the farm when it finally has had enough. The log book has quite a lot of owners on it now, we should try and get it into triple digits. eddyramrod 1
Skizzer Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Ah, mystery solved! An old friend. I used to see it around when it was on loan to (whose? Phil's?) sister in Swansea. It was like when you spot a famous actor or someone on the street, you can't quite believe it's really them. nacho man, Inspector Morose, Richard and 1 other 4
HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Made it back okay. Not that far to travel by car, seemed much further on the train. It drives really nicely. The only problems are the blow in the exhaust which needs seeing too, as it sounds very 'sporty' at the mo and there is a wobble on the brakes at speed but nothing drastic. Surprised myself a few times on how fast I was going and even managed a couple of overtakes, proper Winston Percy innit. JohnK being the top bloke he is chucked some Jag wheels in on the deal that he had in his lock up which means I am much nearer getting the Jag tested again. Will have to buy him some beers for that fo'sho. skattrd, Junkman, Skizzer and 6 others 9

It was like when you spot a famous actor or someone on the street, you can't quite believe it's really them. It's funny but I thought that when I collected it off Mastervan, first sight of it sat in a puddle of coolant on his driveway was a bit "wow, it's actually real".

phil_lihp Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I had the exhaust checked out as it was starting to sound a bit fruity when I had it, they confirmed it wasn't leaking, it's the baffles, or lack of, in the back box, which was a genuine MG Rover part from Rimmer Bros I had fitted in 2013. It always did sound a bit rorty with that on it, I've never been sure it was actually right even when it was new.
HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Its defo blowing at the front. Not seen where from yet though as Mrs Imp hadn't been to the gym yet today because of my excursion so was rattling when I got back and left me babysitting. Just been out and moved out the Jag wheels and might look under it shortly if i get a chance.
HillmanImp Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Just been outside and had a look and its blowing from the muffler on the downpipe. Will look online and see how much a replacement is. If its a lot I might just remove it and make it straight through but I bet I can get one for about £20 if I have a look around. Will have a better look in the light when I get a chance.
JohnK Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Glad you had a painless trip home mate. The 220's spot has now been replaced with the impulse purchase MG. I never keep a car space free for long ha ha. The exhaust blow is definitely at the front, it sounded manifold area to me but did sound a bit further under when listening closer. Good luck getting the Jag back on the road quickly as well! Coprolalia, KruJoe, HillmanImp and 1 other 4
