My Gamma in its natural pose

That is beautiful in every way. Except it's made by Lancia! ;)

I have had a couple of Lancias Betas and HPEs and they were all lovely to look at and awful to own! Great to drive though... when everything is working. I have always fancied a Gamma but shrivelled testicles have always been the result of thinking about it seriously!

I think the Gamma is one of the great designs of the last century and am very jealous

I'm always glad when someone else is brave enough to run a Gamma, I owned a Berlina for a short while, but didn't use it a lot as it used to ground going in and out of the garage.(Also I had my Alfa 164 and Volvo 164 at the same time.) I think the Coupé has the edge in the looks department, but did like the silly windows through the boot on the saloon. Mine didn't ever die on me, but I don't think it lasted long after I sold it.

I am consumed with jealousy.  Consumed, I tell you.

thanks. By the way, if you ever want to sell your Renault 16, please let me know.

About 20 years ago, Bauer Millet in Manchester had the Gamma 'Scala' for sale at around £7k. I went to look at it two or three times thinking of buying but couldn't bring myself to buy a one off Lancia without the resources to do it justice.

I met Robbie Coltrane there. He was also looking at it but had the same jitters. "Pretty car, but what would you do if you damaged it? "

They forgot the bit about getting you on first name terms with your bank manager and the AA man*

* note this is meant as a joke my bank manager already hated me before I had mine and it never needed the AA

It's left hand drive, it's only got the 2000cc engine which will have zero parts availability in the UK as opposed to negligible and it's about eleventy gatrillion pounds too expensive

'Cause the price is crazy, and it is an emasculated Italy-only tax dodging 2 litre?

I don't know if that 2 litre is a small bore version of the Gamma OHC engine, or if it is the carried over pushrod engine from the Flavia. Anyway, one of the glories of a Gamma is the power delivery of that 2.5 litre, short stroke engine. Just the best four cylinder engine I have ever driven. (But made of cheese)

They are gorgeous to look at and lovely to drive, a bit oversteery which is clever with front drive.

This side of Euromillions, I won't be going there again, but I definately encourage anyone who fancies a go.

Edit- slow post - Cava!

Duly noted. I should warn you that Frau Skizzer is a lot more attached to the 16 than I am and regards it as family, so this might not happen particularly soon.

I could imagine some temporary summertime swappage going on though, if you were up for such things? (I mean cars rather than wives, obv. Unless you're married to Alice Eve, in which case that's negotiable too.)

Could be a goer though it's only fair to warn you that you'd be getting the worst of the deal.

The real lust for the Regie comes from the fact that we have a micro-gaff in the Dordogne and I want some suitably Gallic merde-d'auto to adorn the barn.

Not being a Hoxton-based graphic designer with a ludicrous moustache, a lumberjack shirt and half-mast strides that make a fat bird's leggings look baggy, a DS is out, all the Peugeot 504s are now being driven by cabbies in downtown Nairobi and that all Simca 1501s are now razor blades, a 16 is the way forward.
