I'm my experience the k-series enjoys a drop of k-seal etc. I've had great success with something called tec 2000.

Apparently it is down to three cylinders, it failed on emissions mainly for MOT...bloody crying shame i'm no good on the spanners because i'd be tinkering with it as being 02 plate would make it the newest car i have ever owned...literally sold my old car late this afternoon and i took this in against it so not had a chance to have a proper gander as yet....

"Jesus Is My Airbag..." LOL! :-D

Ruffgeezer,

Your Strretwise is doing sterling service here, is much loved, and has had a clutch . These 200's are so underrated.

Yes, in spite of it's looks, it was pretty good underneath.

Been out to it...not too bad condition, clutch/gearbox/brakes seem ok, engine seems to run well despite being on the way to OMGHGF, one decent tyre, smells of Dog...pics here and hopefully the link works, if no, PM with your e-mail and i will send you some pics :)

Nowt really. Ma wants a new car, something a bit newer, I said I'd look for something for her. Just interested to know the price really.

Looks o.k that, it annoys me how people constantly say a head gasket is about to fail (how would you possibly know that?), is on it's way out or simply that the head gasket is starting to go .... It's either failed or it hasn't!!!

These 'K' motors are actually quite good, lack of servicing on the most part is what does them in because people are too lazy to be arsed with them. As said by someone else it's likely the manifold gasket but could still be the head.

GLWTS etc.

Hi Chompy,

I love cars but not great on the oily bits...i've had to take it as gospel from the guy who part ex'd it with me that it's OMGHGF...i've only ever had two cars kettle, one being a 1.6 Escort which was doing the same trick this 25 is, ie, drinking water like a cod with a Ecstasy habit, so that's the extent of my knowledge of HGF. I am also told that it's not working on all four cylinders correctly, but it made a 50 mile journey to my place...it is a crying shame as i would personally love to put it back on the road (most probably binning the Fusty Furious alloys and putting some 200/400 steels on) but i'm just not a spanner wielder, never have been :(
