This guy does seem like a massive twat though and probably best avoided. I would say keep an eye on him and if he lists any other stuff in the near future, just fuck his auctions up. He can't neg you or owt.

Ph2 v6 Estate in Black for £700 because the windows don't work and a scary looking fault like ESP light on would be perfect!

This was £700, come down a bit now to £500

Phase 1 (boo), Privilege spec (even more boo) but Estate (yay!). Looks incredibly scanky looking inside though and a few marks on the bodywork.

Oh and charge light on. However if the alternator has been replaced (floating pully can go) and is putting out 14v, then its usually the dashboard at fault - 5 minute soldering job on a few cracked joints.

But still a bit too expensive given these faults!

I'd usually point out the tow hook cover is missing too, so its probably had a tow hook in it during its life. But then no point really, as it is a Laguna 2...

Tempted to make a silly low ball offer (£200?), but then that's getting me distracted again from what I really want!

I have a nice* A6 Avant you can buy....

I do like the older A6 and they have enormous boots. I also really do like the 1.8T engine. 300k+ miles would be great purely for the lulz too.

However I really do need something with a Renault badge on (to make it useful as a test bed for the app) ... sticking the Scenic's badge on it doesn't count though ;)

My CAP Black Book (printed version) doesn't even have values for V6 Laguna II - they're that worthless!

Posted

Or because they're rare/special. ;)

Isn't the black book based purely off previous auction sold prices?

Look at this lunatic

The car looks great compared to other Laguna's. Even the front Laguna sighn is carbon fibre wrapped .

I have put on tyres recently.

Parking sensors with a display at the front telling you exactly how much space you have left. Very helpful for parking.

Has a aftermarket exhaust

Cream Leather seat covers

It has a push start button which is very modern

You're wanting a nod of approval for that aren't you, I can sense you have a roll of that carbon wrap just waiting to go!

Posted

Lol! It's only a 1.6 too.

Is it wrong I actually quite like that fake carbon vinyl on the centre console?! Probably be alright for a quick fix to make it presentable if the plastic finish is utterly buggered.

There seems to be a lot of phase 1 v6s around at the moment. I wonder if more were sold of the phase 1 generally?

Laguna 3, so cheating for this thread, but an absolute bargain for the age! It has been relisted a couple of times lower each time. I think it's not selling as people are scared of the word Laguna and Renault, its red, a bit gopping and in deepest darkest Wales.

Engine is sourced from Nissan, so should be solid.

This is really what I should be buying! Just bored of 4 cylinders and looks terribly sensible...

I had a bit of a work fest on mine t'other night.

JOb 1: Oil change

P1080263.jpg

I had previously done an oil change and used cheap 10/40 oil. The dephaser was ticking a bit and I decided that was probably the cause. I put some STP oil flush in, ran it for a bit, then dropped the oil (only 800 miles old) and replaced it with pukka 5w30 fully synth. Result 150 miles later: Dephaser a tiny bit louder. BALLS

Next job: New discs & pads:

P1080254.jpg

Got these off the bay, £60 for new vented discs & pads, delivered. Quite cheap i thought spesh in view of the weight of the discs, they are big heavy 300mm vented things. Old ones were a bit sad in the inside faces to be fair.

P1080255.jpg

Next job: rew rear spring, £15 delivered!!!!

P1080259.jpg

I remembered the war Scary had to change his rear shocks and was a bit worried, but it turned out OK. I managed to undo the top shock absorber mount so that the trailing arm dropped enough to get the spring out.

P1080257.jpg

The end had broken off the old spring. Getting the new one in was a bit of a battle but I got it in the end.

P1080261.jpg

It seemed to sit a bit more level with that in so thats good, it did look a bit saggy on the arse end pefore. Also fixed the erratic tail lights (fault was shitty towbar wiring, I just disconnected it all). Just beed to give the rear brakes a clean-up and tighten the HB cable and we should be good for the MOT.

P1080267.jpg

I've done about 1000 miles in this now and I have to say, its absolutley great - i do like driving it. I was quite prepared for it to be totally shit but in fact its a real pleasure to drive, its remarkably quiet and smooth, handles well and I have got a bit of Karma with it now. I dont feel like its going to blow up or whatever, I'd do a long journey in it no problems. Its averaging 37mpg too. The Dephaser is a bit tappy still at idle but I have enough good vibes with it that, if I was keeping it I'd probably be OK to spend £100 on a new one. BUT I have that blue turbo estate gooner which I want to get on the road, so this one is going to have to move on soon.

There was a 58 plate 2.0 diesel mk3 gooner for sale near me last week for 1150 quid.  It started at at 1800 on gumtree then was down to 1150 about 3 weeks later. I'm a bit scared of the diesel but that petrol one looks appealing.

Ooo that looks lovely! I'm going to be picky and say it has to be a v6 though!

Apart from the noise, I reckon the V6 is a more hardy and less troublesome engine. It's pretty much the same as used by PSA in the 406/c5/others and very rarely gives any big problems. Even the dephasers seem never to give problems. Also they're very torquey low down and given the average type of owner (you don't buy a FWD v6 barge for cornering ability), its probably has had a stressfree life.

One interesting point. Renault state cambelt at 75k/5yrs, while PSA varies a bit but is generally 75k/10yrs. Despite being fundamentally the same engine.

The F4R is generally a pretty solid lump too and has been widely used by Reno though. I wonder if the Laguna installation of the F4Rt is like the Meganes - "Removing starter motor. Step 1: Remove engine" (no jokes).

If it's a car I like, I tend to keep my cars for a good 5yrs+. I know if I don't get a lag in a V6 I'll regret it. The way the motor industry is going, this age car is going to be the last of the big petrol N/A barges. Stuff in the last 5years is all 4pot turboed stuff and any big engine is a diesel. :(

Another 5yrs I reckon it'll be all little petrols with big turbos and progressively more electrical assistance.

They've even put in a sodding 4cyl turbo engine into the new Porsche Boxster replacing the flat 6! No doubt being VAG now, like the Golf GTi, the sounds will be "enhanced" with, no word of a lie, a sound generating module to make fake engine sounds...

It does look rather cracking in that colour! Far better than the dull silver/grey ones you often see around.

Just realised its Privilege spec too and has those Xenon lights.

haha.

FAP is the DPF (Diesel Particular Filter). The dreaded curse on modern diesels. Chocks itself full of all the soot you see and then burns it off every so often. But can only burn it off by getting it really hot and running at a constant speed - so usually done when on a motorway run. If town run, it never gets done and clogs up too far. Thus requiring a trip to someone with a diagnostics tool that can manually trigger a DPF regeneration.

NEED CLEANING FAP ENGINE WORKING REALY NICE . I SEEL BECAUSE I NEED BIGER CAR . MOT TO JUN 2016

Renault Laguna 3.0 V6 24v auto Initiale

This is what they should be priced at to be honest. Unfortunately this weekend I'm all booked out and won't be able to get a spare 7hrs for a round-trip (if no delays) to drive up norf.

*keeps fingers crossed that it doesn't sell over this weekend*

... Oh, as its 06 reg, not 55reg (or older), its £500 per year or £44 per month. Ouch!!!! This looks like the one compromise on it that I will have to make.

Afraid not. However K-Tec do a tuning kit for the 1.6 VVT K4M that is in the Twingo 2 - which the Wind is based on. They up it from 133bhp to 163bhp - not far from the BHP from a standard F4Rt 2.0T, but then you'll have less weight too.
