BorniteIdentity Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 BBC local radio used them for outside broadcasts. The one I used to drive is still around, although they changed the livery a couple of years ago and now it's white. I too had the unenviable task of driving a BBC Local Radio 'radio car'. Sadly, ours was an old relic of a Toyota Pervia. POS.
purplebargeken Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Mr. RG, how much pounds might liberate said silver panels? Mondy has provisionally sold but not being collected until Sunday. Still haz interests.
purplebargeken Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Just wondering about the clutch pedal. Is this a faff to sort?
dieselnutjob Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 At the moment it's fine. If it does screw up the hydraulics are all on the outside of the gearbox so not hard to change. The actual clutch/flywheel are fairly new and a solid flywheel (not a DMF) so I can't see how you would have a serious problem for a long time.
purplebargeken Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Ah, that does indeed make it easier. Cool. Ta. Would be cool to pop over and have a look if poss. Makes a change having something nearby lol+++
dieselnutjob Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Tax runs out tonight, so probably best to come this evening whilst it can still be legally driven.
purplebargeken Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Not that bothered about the actual driving bit. It drove for you rather ok, so I don't see that being an issue. General once over will suffice. I have yet to be screwed with a shit car from my AS brethren, so I don't forsee that changing too much over the next couple of weeks
dieselnutjob Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 Well now I have a bit of a problem. I have multiple people interested in the 806, but so far no one who is able to fulfill the two criteria that interest me, namely:-1. Payment of £300.2. Gone off of my drive, or at least agreement to achieve this quickly. I don't think that I have mislead anyone that it is theirs but as there are now multiple interested parties, some of whom are offering immediate payment, it seems only fair to be clear what my requirement is. The car will go to whoever I feel is nearest to provided the outcome I desire, i.e. paid for and gone. I prefer to be clear about this in case anyone feels unfairly treated. As of now no one has committed to 1 and 2 and so it is still for sale and so if if you want the car that's what you have to do. By the way a buyer can achieve number 2 by insuring and taxing the 806 so that I can leave it in the road if they wish. It is a valid solution to issue number 2. Basically you send me the cash, I send off the V5 and a few days later I put it in the road. Job done. HillmanImp and Lacquer Peel 2
panhard65 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 If you still have it on Saturday I should be able to help with both conditions 1 and 2. I have been secretly wanting this but thought it would of been snapped up before I would get a chance to collect.
stripped fred Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I think your conditions sound quite reasonable! strangeangel 1
dieselnutjob Posted December 1, 2015 Author Posted December 1, 2015 I have to have conditions because there are now multiple interested buyers. It seems to me the only fair way to select a winner, first one that gets near enough to meeting the conditions. stripped fred 1
purplebargeken Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Sadly I will have to withdraw from the race to purchase this fine DERV beastie as Mrs PBK clocked the piccies of it and rather abruptly decreed it unsuitable beko1987 1
panhard65 Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Well if no one else is stepping up I will have it and pick up on Saturday if I can organise a lift
purplebargeken Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Yes indeed but I suppose I should be grateful she never clocked most of the stuff I have had previously Hmm, guess I better not mention the Sierra then. JohnK 1
phil_lihp Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Well if no one else is stepping up I will have it and pick up on Saturday if I can organise a lift If you're flexible on days I am passing your way on Sunday en route to Milton Keynes. Either way, this would make a brilliant workhorse next year when I change jobs and need something to do site visits with so if you can run it until April I'll have it off you then! eddyramrod 1
dieselnutjob Posted December 6, 2015 Author Posted December 6, 2015 sold to panhard65 he wouldn't even accept a cup of tea. Just gave me money and drove off in it! KruJoe, Dave_Q, Jim Bell and 1 other 4
purplebargeken Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 Maybe he heard a the rumours about your tea More likely it was hard water tea that put him off. These southerners can't deal with it you know. Nice, simple and straightforward. Typical* AS collection
panhard65 Posted December 7, 2015 Posted December 7, 2015 I am not much of a tea drinker to be honest. The 806 performed perfectly all the 150 miles back home. The ABS light has come on once but other than that no trouble at all. I bunged it on the ramp this morning and couldn't really find much wrong that is worth the effort repairing. The steering rack is a bit damp but for 300 quid I can't complain especially as it sill shows 3/4 of a tank of diesel. I shall flog off the roof bars and have removed the tinting film from the front windows then put it to work over the winter. It will come in handy for transporting these French bike I keep buying. dugong and KruJoe 2
dieselnutjob Posted December 7, 2015 Author Posted December 7, 2015 The ABS light is wierd. The more that you use the car, the less it comes on. The error code was for rear right sensor. I have a spare sensor somewhere and once I have dug it out I can post it. It might be useful if it gets worse. When you sell the roof bars the buyer will also need the four brackets which are screwed to the roof channels. Keep an eye on PAS fluid, it is using a little and the pumps are weak on these. If it starts making a noise you need to stop and add some (it's in the left boot cupboard thing). If you end up scrapping it please can I have/buy back the Brink removable tow ball? I have a hitch which I want to adapt to the 604 but I'm currently lacking that bit.
