mercrocker Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 There is one in Salisbury, too. Last week one of the three machines in a car park was broken. Warden told us he was giving everybody 3 hours (the maximum time) and then coming back with his book.
anonymous user Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Like this one? My interpretation of that sign is that you could park there for loading starting at 8:00am on Monday and take until 6:00pm on Saturday to complete it, but then I am an arse who takes things literally Andrew353w, scaryoldcortina and Richard 3
scaryoldcortina Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 That's not far off what I thought it meant as well. Most annoying bit though was the complete lack of common sense on the part of the warden. He clearly stood outside the open door of the only shop in the vicinity to take one of his "evidence" photos but failed to come in and ask if we were loading anything.
anonymous user Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 I have probably put this up before, there was a very officious traffic warden in Haverfordwest quite a few years ago, it made the paper when she ticketed a Fire Engine. Yes it was on a double yellow line, but it was on a call working, with the hoses attached to the back of it. I think she finally went after she ticketed the Magistrates' cars when they were parked outside the Magistrates' Court. scaryoldcortina and purplebargeken 2
richardmorris Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 If you don't like their parking restrictions take your business elsewhere. I've never had a parking ticket - I read signs and park accordingly. It doesn't matter if it's fair or not.
chaseracer Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Like this one? The information that they expect you to attend the vehicle at no greater than five minute intervals is on display at the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying beware of the leopard. You are Douglas Adams AICM£5.
purplebargeken Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Damn, just got a ticket for parking on a double yellow whilst I was being outraged after seeing that puppies were being burned. Damn your eyes Mr. Traffic Enforcement Officer.
Slartibartfast Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 "Why are you getting upset about this, there are much greater injustices in the world" is, while not the worst way to try to shut down an argument, still a pretty suspect thing to say. That and "end of", which is usually used to try to end nuanced discussions that clearly haven't ended and aren't likely to any time soon.
Guest Breadvan72 Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 Suspect? What are you suspicious about? Anyway, how does an expression of an opinion that others are free to disagree with amount to an attempt to shut down a thread (especially one that I started)?
nebuchenezer Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 This trite observation is for the most part BS, but it's easy for people to trot it out in the time honoured pub expert manner. The reality is that most of the legal rules of a developed society tend to track fairly closely to that society's ideas about moral behaviour. NB I said most, not all.We will agree to differ then

STUNO Posted November 13, 2015 Posted November 13, 2015 What a joy it is to live in a town with plenty of parking space everywhere and not one officious or otherwise warden. I get upset though if the shop I want to go to has a car parked outside and I have to park outside the one next door. The shops that have their own parking lots would not dare to try to charge for parking.
