It's an England we'll never see again. Shame.

Was that artic coming out of the docks a Mandator?

I used to drive one of those back in the day.

How very thick of me.

Mandators were AEC:

The one in the Beverly vid is probably a Beagle or a Beaver

I used to love driving the old beast.

Pre M25 days. The clutch hydraulics failed in Poole, Dorset.

Drove it back through London without a clutch. Easy in those.

What the world looked like before fluorescent yellow was invented.

I worked for the gas. Driver improvement course for him, and mass pre-emptive bollocking for his colleagues nationwide because if he'd done it, they might all do it... At BG, just because you haven't done something (yet), it doesn't mean you're not-guilty.

Chompy and I were looking at the videos from the mid-eighties and marvelling at how light the traffic was.  We both have childhood memories of there being low to moderate levels of traffic even in town centres but the videos are what prove it to be a real memory rather than a nostalgia thing.  Just going for a pleasant drive on nice open roads now is much more difficult.
