My new futureshite(?)

Just picked up this weirdo amorphous 2006 Pontiac Wave saloon with 53,000kms / 33,000 miles on the clock. Newest car I've ever owned, ha. Canadian-market-only variant of the Chevrolet Aveo / Daewoo Kalos in bizarre booted form. Absolute pov spec, the one and only option is a CD player (that's optional!). Doesn't even have an immobilizer, the keys are just plain old chip-less metal & plastic jobs. Manual gearbox, of course. I'll get better photos later.

It's actually not a bad little machine to zip around in, with a 1.6 it's fairly nippy and sprightly.

Maybe I'll keep it until I'm a giffer, still with the original wheel trims!

The dear old Camry, as much as I loved it, had pulled its last straw. Its annual vehicle inspection was due at the end of February, and it needed at least a new windshield (which isn't covered with my insurance) after developing a large crack. Also, an apparent fuel starvation issue had just started, and the rear suspension was beginning to make a racket again. And at 11 years old and 240,000 kms on the odometer, it was not getting any younger. It had cost me $7,000 in maintenance and repairs alone in the past two years, and like I say, it wasn't getting any younger.

As I'm currently saving for a wedding and a long honeymoon, and intend to save for a classic car after that, I wanted something very cheap and dependable to get me around, to work and elsewhere. Nothing fancy required. This seems to do the trick. Still has warranty! I've never had that before...

Good buy probably, would confuse the Dutch even more if I'd import one here... cheep?

Yeah, cheap as a 2006 can be basically. Unfortunately UK-style deals (£50 cars and the like) just don't really exist here so shite is not as viable. This was $6,500 Canadian dollars a.k.a. €4,000 a.k.a. £3,600.

Wow that looks... horrible!

So therefore, SO GOOD and SO autoshite?Or was I out taking a slash when the 'raison d etre de Autoshite' were being read out?

It's quite neat - but it'd look a thousand times better if it didn't have that lemon-sucking grille.

raison d etre de Autoshite

- nothing is really set in stone here AFAIK - pretty much anything goes though it's easier to say what's NOT shite than what is.. 'tis all very abstract..1.6 engine? is that what the Euro versions of this have too? I'd have thought it would have some mad 3 cylinder wheezer of less than a litre?- in the '80s 1.6 L was considered 'middle weight'-BTW, marks out of ten for the bit of 'Building shite' in the background! - it looks mildly 'gothic'? but the copper flat roof says otherwise! - what is it? some church thing? oddly new looking masonry though there is some pointing maintenance evident .@watanabe: in your sig - what's the dashboard? - I'm a dashboard fanatic - is it an MR2 (80s skool?) or is it a limited digital version of the Mk1 Fiat Uno? or is it some very obvious thing everyone knows but me....

Call that POVERTY, some of us are old enough to remember when

HEATERS were options :(:(:(

Not to mention a radio (AM of course)

LOL thanks for all the comments...I suppose it is quite grand with toys like two wing mirrors and rear window defrost!I too want to know what dashboard that is in watanabe's signature...I spent a good several minutes staring at it.Re: building shite in the background, that's Saint John's Trinity Anglican church. Apparently in the "Late Early English Gothic" style. Current building dates to 1879 after the first, which was erected in 1788, was destroyed by fire.

I think the Isuzu Piazza had a dash that looked a bit like that didn't it? Certainly doesn't look anything like the dash in my MR2
