This was something I found on Ebay whilst looking for a Matchbox Garage which I can never afford.I've never seen one before,& there were no other bidders so it was mine for less than a tenner :D

Here's the box,as you can tell,it comes from the late '70s

Why are you on t'internet and not making vroom vroom noises with all this lot???? Love the pikeyesque Merc crew cab and caravan. "Do yer want some lucky tarmac?"Top find. Never EVER let this go!!!!

Fantastic! Did it come with the cars or are they your own? My daughter would love it!

Nice setup - I would have loved one like that. I recognise a few of the cars on the box from my own youth - the burgundy Shadow, blue CX estate with caravan, cement mixer, A series breakdown truck and the bizarre "futuristic" articulated tanker with the ridiculously close-coupled tractor unit all graced my own toy box in the early '80s.

This is ace. I would have loved this as a kid, and I harbour a desire to have one now. I'll have to pop round with my bag of matchbox cars later.....

The cars are all ones I've collected, mostly from car boots & the odd toyfair.I've still got most of my old cars from 30-odd years ago,but most of them were modified in one way or another

I don't recognise that particular set, I had something like it, a similar thing to the main showroom building but moulded in yellow, don't know who made it & I think mum bought it for me second hand so there was no box. I would regularly visit the second hand toy stalls on the Friday & Saturday markets in Hitchin as a child, it was like being a kid in a candy shop but far more exciting. It paved the way for me attending toyfairs & swapmeets in later life.I know the name Casdon though, to me they were the manufacturer of my sister's amazingly realistic (but scaled down) vacuum cleaner toy, modelled on an actual Hoover or Electrolux. I used to love roaring whilst pushing that thing around, imitating the loudness of the hoover! I have or have had 90% of your cars & the cars on the box though! :D:wink:

Yes, they also made toy cash registers. Carved out a little niche catering for kids with a down to earth imagination.

I am pretty sure I had a 'casdon' cash register as a kid. Very 'arkwright' The ones the kids have now.... well.... my daughter's one comes with barcode beep scanner and chip'n'pin machine.

Great! These sort of things were all I played with as a lad. I had a few different sets but my main one was just a big mat that rolled up. No "3D" on that one. The parking spots were always too small for my cars, too.I still have it plus all my cars, of course!I have: the Merc limo (or at least did, can't remember last time I saw it), Renner 11, and Volvo 740/760.

By the time I have kids, it'll be the Casdon Self Service checkout. You never touch it except to enter the over-ride code when it complains about an unrecognised item in the bagging area.

unrecognised item in the bagging area.

*fumes*Quick lane? QUICK???About as quick as elephant childbirth. Yet I always go to them, thinking it might be better this time. Either that or the old biddy on checkout 4 looks like she'll make smalltalk about every single item I buy, and the quick lane is more tolerable.

Ooooh! Bottled water.................tastes nice, Oh look, toilet roll. Good for wiping your bum on eh? Ex-Lax chocolate? You'll need more paper dear......Earplugs? MMMFFFFhHHHggDDdBBBBBRRRRRRRrrrrrr........or something like that.Try telling her to shut up and work. I do at my local Asda at 3am with a trolley full of yellow labels and other obscure shit. If they piss me off, I leave things on odd shelves to go off, or put items in other shoppers' trolleys in a clandestine manner. Whisky in a Nun's trolley. Condoms in a Grannies trolley, etc...............I also look for the dole scrounging chavs and fill theirs with the "Extra Special" super pricey (but bloody tasty) cuts of venison and duck....................(I duck, not the meat).....I never get caught. It's great sport! until I get the same treatment.

I have a phobia of supermarkets, think its the lighting. After 10 mins in one I start to get trolley rage and have to leave.
