purplebargeken Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 Still need to get the other set of radio removal thingies. Bugger!
Pillock Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Do you have them and need to remember to take the mto the car, or do you need to buy some?If you need to buy some and they're the flat Ford type, I have some around here somewhere you can have FOC (because I don't have a Ford) purplebargeken 1
purplebargeken Posted November 23, 2015 Author Posted November 23, 2015 The new unit is the flat key type and the old unit is the round key type. It's the round type that I need annoyingly. Like most people I had a set but they seem to have disintegrated due to lack of use
Pillock Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I think for the round ones, anything the right diameter will work. A little Allen key is my fav. It just releases a little catch so you just need a wooden stirrer or something non-metal to gently lever the unit out a few mm one side at a time.
mrbenn Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I think I've got some of the round style keys you can borrow if you're stuck. I used them on my Focus so they should be the same thing. Will have a look when I get home tonight.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Yo Kenneth. Is this still for sale? If so what approximate number of pound coins would buy it?
mrbenn Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 PM me your address and I'll get them in the post this very morning.
purplebargeken Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Just PM'd. Thanks very much indeed
purplebargeken Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 Meant to say..... I popped open the bonnet of the Mondy yesterday to attach the jump leads, I was confronted by the biggest plastic cover I have ever seen. Even the battery is in a bloody plastic box. Not sure what I was expecting mind, something like the Sierra perhaps? I am a little out of touch I guess. They_all_do_that_sir 1
They_all_do_that_sir Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 The big plastic cover is almost like a second bonnet under the main bonnet. Pointless.... purplebargeken 1
sierraman Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 Just pulls off though, sits on some pegs at the back. Pull one of the hoses off its clip and away you go. Does cut down on the noise though.
purplebargeken Posted November 24, 2015 Author Posted November 24, 2015 It is ginormous though! The R75 V6 one was bloody miniscule in comparison
overrun Posted November 24, 2015 Posted November 24, 2015 The big plastic cover is almost like a second bonnet under the main bonnet. Pointless.... Cam cover cover. Ininit. I need to remove the airbox to get the bloody battery and battery box out of my mk4,
purplebargeken Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 Crikey The prong things turned up this morning Ben, many thanks mrbenn 1
purplebargeken Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 Although there is nothing wrong with the car per se (other than the bits already mentioned, none are major), the Mondy box has now been ticket on my bucket list. Anyone fancy swapping it for something? No idea what tickles mon fancy, so suggest away. If it goes nowhere up to christmas I'll get it fettled and MOT'd.
purplebargeken Posted November 26, 2015 Author Posted November 26, 2015 Colleague at work had a significant FTP today. Here Stilo estate grenaded itself severely whilst travelling along the A1. It is terminal which is a shame as I liked the look of the estate version. She and her husband might go for the Mondy as they really do need a car. He is a mechanic so getting the bits done will not be a hassle. We'll see how it goes.
purplebargeken Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Ben the prongs have done their job. Shall I post them back to you? Thank you very much indeed The Mondeo has now been provisionally sold. Pick up by new owner is on Sunday morning hopefully. I broke even which I am happy about. Never one to let grass grow under my automotive feet and terminally unable to leave money alone. What next? Now the options......... 1. Buy the Pug 806 and have space, pace and naffing great towing ability. Shitter useful. 2. Buy an Alfa, obv a do'er upper. Is on bucket list too. 3. Buy sumfink else. The little Rover and Sierra will have happiness lavished upon them as and when, so no issues there. I have space at the barn and a budget of 310.00 mrbenn 1
