Blimey, looks much like my old 180B estate of the same age and colour did after Utterpiffle/Scrapingscrap bought it off me and lowered it.

Damage obviously not too bad, as this one kept going until 1990.

My mum was living in London at the time and was just bitter than my dad slept right through it and she hadn't. When she told me that she tried to drive to work the next morning I immediately declared the idea futile. I was right.

Brings it all back these pics.....Actually, I slept right through it (was with Mrs R. Mk 1 and our child was about 6 months old).   Didn't notice anything untoward until I got to work and a couple of big oak trees in the park were on their side.   I went round the back of the car to get something out of the boot and there was a roof tile wedged between the bumper and the number plate.   Shit.   Phoned home and found that all our fence panels had gone and the patio was sprinkled with broken tiles.   That was the most shocking thing about the whole night - the fact that I never noticed anything!

I went out to do my paper round having seen the pictures on tv-am.

Was a lot of twigs on the ground and bins blown about but not much else until I got to the penultimate house and saw the garage roof sitting in the driveway.

Then on the way to school (late again) I saw a black Rover 800 with a massive tree laying across the bonnet and up the roof.

It was pretty squished. Couldn't have been more than a few months old.
