One Day Insurance - any tips

Recommended Posts

Trying to get one day cover for the Streetwise so that I can take it for a new MOT to hopefully help the sale but it's more expensive than I thought.

My current insurer (Direct Line) are asking for £21 to add the car for a day and that's the cheapest I've found from searching online.

I was hoping for closer to a tenner to be honest as I'll only be doing 8 miles each way to the garage and back.

That sounds cheap. Normally it is about £30 for the day.

Does sound cheap plus as its your current insurer it'd be less hassle to do it.

£30 is what I was getting else where.

It's just that I remember having to get a courtesy car added for a day a few times (admitted about 10 years ago) and it was more like £10.

My options are pay £21 for insurance to take it further away to a place which only charge £27 for the MOT or risk taking it round the corner with no insurance but pay £50 for the MOT. The former is still cheaper and less risk.

Shirley this could have gone in stupid question thread.

£21 is cheap you'd be hard pushed yo find cheaper.

I wouldn't even risk it for the sake of only £21!!

Remember I am Scottish therefore tight!

However it is a no brainier really so taken it out with my current insurer.

Some stand alone day insurance will not cover non-MOTd vehicles so you probably have little choice.

I usually use RAC for one day insurance(even though I loathe the Rac) as I find them cheapest.

It's always £21-22ish
